Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda… June 22, 2009
Posted by brandy in I like annoying people by talking about how much i like comic sans, and now you might know everything, books i'm not writing, confession of the day, find the dorkiest sentence in this, harry potter, hello universe? I love you, i can't believe i have a football tag, i like cupcakes more than gluten, it's almost like a meme, it's okay- you can skim this one, lists, man I'm such a girl, pirates, right on my sleeve, teaching, the world according to me.trackback
I can’t…
Wear maxi dresses (I look like I’m playing dress up). Watch Fox News without yelling. Make jello (it just.. never works). Flirt. Push the snooze button.
I can..
Drive a tractor. Sign my name in sign language faster than I can say it out loud. Teach 19 second graders how to hand write. Fall asleep in any moving vehicle. Admit to loving public speaking. Check my email far too often for it to be considered healthy. Make 32 pirate costumes in five days. Always tell you which way north is.
I won’t…
Buy Cosmo magazine anymore. Kiss and tell. Forget about the kisses I’m not telling you about. Apologize for loving comic sans. Ever be able to pose for a photo without making a goofy face. Ever watch “The Little Mermaid” without singing along to every. single. song. Ever apologize for the aforementioned singing.
I will…
Always say what I’m thinking when I feel it’s important. Be in line early to see the new Harry Potter movie. Occasionally spend too much money on shoes. Still shake my head when I think about Sarah Palin. Never walk out of Sephora empty handed. Say ” I love you” the moment I think it, without thinking about consequences. Cry when I’m frustrated. Cry when I’m excited. Annoy people with the crying. Crave ridiculously expensive items from J.Crew.
I shouldn’t…
Feel guilty about starting the week off with a meme. Eat so many things with gluten. Miss football as much as I do. Enjoy 2 for 1 margarita’s as often as I do. Watch Fox News. Send emails without using spell check. Shop online.
I should…
Nap more. Visit Seattle. Call my g-pop. Get my own domain name. Write more. Get an oil change.
Inspired by this

Is it wrong that I feel pretty damn fantastic that you did this?
I hope not.
Oh and you can drive a tractor? That’s impressive.
It was a fun post to steal. Thanks! And yes, I can drive a tractor. I should put this on the resume I think…
Your “I can”s totally beat out your “I can’t”s
)
I didn’t even think of that until you said it, but I love that you pointed it out!
This is all kinds of awesome! I love these self-affirming posts–we all need to remind ourselves of our incredible-ness from time to time.
Good for you for not buying Cosmo anymore–they make me mad in so many different ways.
Yeah.. Cosmo kicks my ass on a regular basis. I’m a better person for not buying it. Truly.
Speaking of pirates, my hometown had a Pirate Festival this weekend. I think I saw… oh, about 100 pirates this weekend. Absolutely fantastic.
100 Pirates? It’s wrong how jealous I am of you right now.
I will totally be in line as soon as I wake up to watch the new harry potter movie! Magic magic!:)
Ps. Can I steal this post, pretty please? I likeeeee!
Yeah! I’m so excited to see it too! And you should definitely steal away!
I totally want all the shoes at J Crew. How can you not?
And dresses. Do not forget the dresses.
and this is going in the drafts box for me to write one day. i like what you did here.
“i like what you did here” may be one of my favourite phrases of all time, thus you are my favourite person of the day.
can I copy you?
Of course! I copied!
I also will be in line as early as possible for Harry Potter. And occasionally I sing Little Mermaid songs when I’m not watching the movie. I mean, no I don’t.
It’s so hard to pick a favourite song, isn’t?
Comic Sans is awesome. The end.
I thought you would like that!
Napping, we definitely don’t do enough of it.
Great post.
I used to be a napping whore…
I wanted to come up with a clever and charming comment, but I am also hung up on the driving a tractor business. How old were you when you started driving one? Do you wear overalls and braided hair, and chew on a piece of hay, as you drive?
(I also check my email entirely too much. Including once while writing this comment.)
Peter, farm girls grow up on the tractor. It’s not something you suddenly do one day. It’s a gift. And there was no hay, farm girls don’t chew hay. If you chew anything, you chew straw.
This is a great post! I, too, sing along with The Little Mermaid. It’s impossible not to.
I’m glad I’m not alone
I was just thinking yesterday that I feel like the only person in the world who is constantly in need of an oil change. It’s nice not to be alone.
Yeaaaaah, I need oil changes on the daily.
Well, no. I don’t. But I just liked how that sounded.
wait, did i miss the memo about people hating comic sans? i like it too. it’s cheerful.
Awesome! Welcome to a very, very small club.
Love it! I can do a lot of the same things! Yay for capable women!
I like the idea of being thought of as ‘capable’ so much that I won’t tell you how I stapled stuff to my shirt the other day…
I’m pretty sure I love this.
Aww thanks!
I’m pretty sure I love this.
And I just might steal it…
Do it!
I can’t hit the snooze button either. Once my alarm goes off, I have to get up, usually because I set my alarm like 10 minutes before I have to be somewhere.
Exactly!!!!
Oh! Did you just provide me with blog inspiration today?
HECK YES!
I love that you say ‘heck’. It’s one of my favourite things to yell.
I think I missed Flirting 101 in junior high. Unless you put a very specific type of man in front of me. Then I rock.
This is absolutely worth borrowing.
I am exactly the same way. Exactly.
Please call your grandpa for me.
I will!
I am also guilty of checking my email WAY too much.
I also love that you can drive a tractor. That is pretty awesome!
I really should put it on the resume.
Sounds pretty balanced to me…
And yet, I’ve been accused of being unbalanced.
I really like this post….I may have to do one myself!
Awesome!
Will you make me a pirate costume?
Maxie, you don’t even have to ask. Consider it done.
Why visit Seattle? I’m from there. I mean, I get it, it’s an amazing city, just curious why you’d like to go there.
Great post.
I heard it’s the place to go. And well.. you got the email…
I like this post!
I’ve known all the words to The Little Mermaid since I was a just youngin’, my parents sat me in front of the tv with it playing when my little sis was born!
Wow! I love that so many people love TLM as much as me!
I like the Seattle part of this post. Why not come to Seattle, that’s what I’m saying.
Who am I kidding, I like it all? My new favourite cereal just happens to be Gorilla Munch and it’s gluten free magic. It’s the best cereal I’ve tasted in a long time.
I thought you would like the Seattle shout out. Gorilla Munch you say? I need to investigate….
Cannot wait for the Harry Potter movie! I will be at the midnight showing!!!
I’m the same way with The Little Mermaid, my roommate from college still teases me about the time she walked out of her room and caught me belting out the words to it late one night… ohh, good times.
I’m just trying to decide if I’m going to go to the movies in costume. Cape or not cape… that is the question.
um love this? yes love it. i no longer buy cosmo either and it makes me feel a little bit better, until i go read perez. oy. one day i’ll grow up, haha.
Ohhh yeah. Especially when they put arrows around Giselle talking about how she looked pregnant. I mean, I know she IS (thanks Perez) but in the photo they showed it just looked like she was exhaling. Oh society.
I wish I had known about your pirate costume making skills before. I would have employed you to make me one for the pirate party I threw in February!
You had a pirate party? We should be best friends.
You can drive a tractor? Impressive! I grew up on a farm and have never driven a tractor. You would be my brother’s dream girl for that fact alone.
I think I’m good at tractor driving because I never have to parallel park.
I think you pretty much have the best memes ever. Ever.
And I can drive a tractor too! I need to know which city you’re in, I think you’re in Alberta? Am I making that up? I might be headed there for stampede, let me know if I’ll be in your area! = )
Ohhh, this made me excited. I emailed you!
I loved this post so much I kinda copied it and linked your original post to it. Don’t be offended cause you are amazing! And I can definitely drive a tractor too.
Aww thanks! And that’s awesome about you and your tractor driving skillz!
You can drive a tractor? I can say the alphabet backwards, but not quite as cool as sign language.
I love posts like these!
You can say the alphabet backwards? Now I’m impressed!!
Love this. I am not ever buying Cosmo either. I can only handle reading about virgins and orgasms and climax every so often. Also, I look pregnant in maxi dresses.
I’m quite convinced that Maxi dresses and gladiator sandals are this generation’s scrunchies and neon colored accessories…..wait…oh yea…http://www.claires.com/trends_3.asp?top=atc&name=
I vote you don’t get your own domain name because you’re lack of one is the reason I have yet to bite the Big Girl Blog bullet and do the same. That and the fact that some bitch totally stole my .com!
Allow me to help. Gorilla Munch is where it’s at.
Good product. Finally!!! My dream of reading without the threat of papercuts will soon become a reality!!!
Cosmo sucks.
And for the first time since they started making the Harry Potter movies, I am actually excited for this one. It looks so good!
I can’t get you out of my head
I can dream about you
I won’t forget you, babe.
I will survive
I shouldn’t kiss you like this
I should have known better with a girl like you
You really should get your own domain name. But people might debate me on that one.
I have the SAME PROBLEM with maxi dresses.
Maybe it’s because I’m not tall? Regardless, it’s a damn shame because they look really comfy.
Oh, Sarah Palin. This is awesome. I’m going to steal it too.
Wow!! I have been MIA lately, what a fun post to come back to! I hear ya on the maxi dress thing – love em on other girls, but on me I just look like I’m wearing a tent
Seattle is gorgeous this time of the year. But I wouldn’t come for a visit here any other time of the year. It really does rain… a lot.
And I can’t wear maxi dresses either! Long dresses in general have to be tailor-made for me because I get lost in them.
Yes. Seattle. Go to it.
This is one of the best memes I’ve ever read. I too need an oil change.

I, too, can never get jello to set. I can make anything you want with raving success. But me + gelatin + water = way sad.
Visit Seattle! That’s a super good one! Come visit, come visit!
But I’m curious… why Seattle? Most people don’t call out the rainy city like that.
But I like to tell anyone and everyone they’d love it. Just come in the summer!
My hand is permanently attached to the snooze button. In fact, my alarm clock is one giant snooze button.

I went away in early July and sorta kinda forgot about reading my blog feed (hanging head in shame). But man, am I LOVING catching up. I also am loving this post.
