For when the tequila bottle is empty March 27, 2009
Posted by brandy in 1/2 funny 1/2 serious 100% important, hey it's Friday! let's say something nice, I'm yoda. Everyone else is a grasshopper, tequila consequences.trackback
The economy is in turmoil. There is war in the world, no one has cured cancer and baby polar bears are dying. I’ve developed a strange love for “Private Practice”, my hair is dry and if it doesn’t stop snowing I’m going to curb stomp Mother Nature. Ashlee Simpson is not only famous, but she’s going to be on the Melrose Place re-make, a show that was very dear to my heart during my formative teenage years. In short, these are trying times my friends.
Sometimes though, when a Friday shows up, when I finish a good book, when my current favourite song pops up on my ipod, when someone holds open a door for me, when I find $10 in my coat, when I get an unexpected letter in the mail, I get a feeling of absolute happiness that I usually only experience after 4 shots of tequila and the loving caress of a man in tight jeans. And I am almost overcome with the feeling that everything is going to work out.
So despite the trying times (or maybe because of them), I hope you find one good thing that makes your day brighter. That one thing that makes you take stock and realize that you hold more chips than you thought. Because we all could use something to make us happier and we can’t drink tequila all the time.
Have a good weekend universe!
Nice Post. I found that a cup of coffee in bed with a sexy man does what four shots of tequila does.
Having a sexy husband sure helps too….
This is a wonderful post to read first thing in the morning (minus the Ashlee Simpson part). Having today be my last day of school before spring break is the highlight for today for me!!!
Happy Friday!
I needed this post… cause right now I feel like karma is out to get me!
I feel the same way much of the time. It really can be the smallest thing sometimes that perks me up. Seeing the first Cardinal of spring, a smile from a stranger, a good night of sleep…
Thanks for sharing such lovely posts like these. Especially amidst so much negativity out there.
this is EXACTLY why i love you and your blog.
I am so glad I read this post before heading into work today
This was great, it made me smile. I love the little things in life, but they are easy to lose sight of sometimes. Have a great weekend.
When I’m having a shitty day (which is happening pretty much every day now) I go talk to one of my co-workers about American Idol and we always leave each other in a better mood. It’s the little things.
GREAT post. I think we all need to be reminded of this.
And seriously, Ashlee Simpson on Melrose Place!? What is the world coming to?!
I love you. I needed a bit of brandy to start my day! I love this song too! I hadn’t heard it. xxxo
What a great post. And what’s even better is that this morning after not so much time with my incredible husband before leaving the house, it brought me so much happiness to text him a simply “i love you, husband” when I arrived at the office. I just love, love calling him “husband”.
I seriously needed this this morning. I’ve had a craptastic week and the only thing to save my day today is that I will be eating burgers&fries from my fav burger joint. A corona may also be included with that meal.
yup, timely. I’m looking for it.
Loved this post… Thanks and have an amazing weekend!
“I get a feeling of absolute happiness that I usually only experience after 4 shots of tequila and the loving caress of a man in tight jeans. And I am almost overcome with the feeling that everything is going to work out…”
I forgot you worked the rodeo circuit…
That song is great! I’m going to have to listen to more of her.
and I’m also slightly in love with Private Practice.
amen sister.
and save for the tight jeans, im right on board with everything here.
[...] That one time I lost my job., We’re broke as a joke — Manda @ 9:58 am I grabbed this from Brandy who pretty much sums it up – we all can use something to make us [...]
This was exactly what I needed to start my day this morning. Yesterday I was having one an everything-gone-wrong day (I almost set fire to my apartment) and am determined to make this day totally opposite. Thanks for the dose of optimism!
This is lovely! Add a cupcake in for good measure, and all will be well with the world.
That song is amazing. It’s just what I needed.
I’m heartbroken about the attempt to re-make Melrose. Ashlee Simpson does not look like a twenty-something doctor/lawyer. She looks like a pregnant teenager.
I used to leave $20 in my winter coats when I stored them away in the spring – that way I would find them in the fall when I took them out. Cheap esteem boost.
The fact that they’re remaking Melrose Place makes me want to vomit. And the fact that Asshole Simpson is going to be on there just makes me want to cry. So it’s like I drank the tequila as it is.
Finding money is one of the best feelings ever. It’s free money so you feel like you should do something really special with it.
Another thing we have in common? I also find solace in tequila and girls wearing tight jeans.
Crazy.
Not too crazy about guys in tight jeans. Scares me a little. But absolutely love this post!
Have a wonderful weekend!
totally needed this today!
happy weekend!
god i love that graphic!
Right back atcha, Sister!

oh well said. and i love that song. seriously, it’s amazing.
happiest of happy weekends!
Thank you! I think your positive wishes worked.
That button is my new mantra.
Have a good weekend, Brandy!
I love looking on the bright side! Nice post
Oh MY! I absolutely concur with the “unexpected letter in the mail” thing! I never ever get handwritten letters anymore, but that doesn’t stop me from sending them out myself every so often. Great post – life IS amazing.
There read something about how we look for the big moments in life to make us happy — weddings, etc. etc. — we should instead be looking at the little things.
Today, a bus let me into traffic — in this town a true minor miracle.
I love this post. I always try to look for the little things.
Today was “eat whatever I want to day.” Now that was a great way to make me happy – through my stomach, of course. But it was nice giving myself permission to eat without guilt and enjoy the hot fudge sundaes (yes, 2 of them — one after lunch, one after dinner). Cuz tomorrow, the sweets go away again.
Nice sentiments. I would love to get handwritten letters in the mail. And Johnny Depp.
Great post! My brother bought me a pair of sunglasses today that he thought I’d like (which I do) and it totally brightened my day!
It’s all those dang commercials for Private Practice right after Grey’s…and that whole thing where like 1/2 the cast of PP went on Grey’s…silly marketing geniuses.
Cute! I needed this sort of optimism today!
Bah! It’s always a good time for tequila!
I’ve been looking for that a lot lately. Haven’t had much luck finding it. Maybe that means I need to drink more…
ashlee simpson is WHAT? and I thought you were just being dramatic. These are, in deed, trying times.
I love this post! And I had a pretty amazing weekend, so it was really nice to read this on Monday, when I needed to come back up a little
