If the techonology gods are frowning on me and you can’t get it to play, watch it here.
Also, I’ve gotten quite a few emails from people asking me if I’m going to post a V.P drinking game. The answer? No. The reason? I’m fairly confident that I won’t need encouragement or verbal cues from candidates to commence drinking. In fact, I’m at a point now where just the name “Sarah Palin” has me looking wildly around for a bottle. I don’t entirely blame her- I spent 45 minutes today watching youtube clips of Elisabeth Hasselbeck screeching about Sarah Palin today, so it could just be I’m annoyed with Elisabeth and taking it out on Sarah. Oh, what’s that you ask? Why would I torture myself by actively SEARCHING FOR clips that show the co-hosts from “The View” looking as though they’re all competing to win gold in a new sport called ‘loudly interrrupting’? I can’t explain what came over me, but in hindsight the only thing that makes sense is that I was looking for reasons to end my life.
The idea that there are people over 18 that don’t vote is insane to me!!
On a somewhat unrelated note, could Forrest Whittaker be any cooler?
Little Fish- Me too friend, me too! Also, I’m not sure it’s possible for him to be any cooler, at all- right up there with Natalie Portman in terms of awesomeness.
um, is that the guy from superbad? i think he’s hysterical.
and damn, leo is looking fine now a days, yes?
ps- ill vote.
Actors telling me what to do? I think I’m less inclined to vote now. Oh, wait, maybe it’s just the FRAKKIN INSANELY LONG California Ballot this year. Geez.
I’m always of mixed feelings about these types of things. On the one hand, yes, I think it’s good to encourage people to do their civic duty and vote. On the other hand, if someone doesn’t give enough of a damn to vote in the first place, is that really someone I want voting? Is that really someone who will sit down for a couple hours, pour over the ballot issues, and think about what or who their voting for?
(And yeah, I really do spend a couple hours going over the ballot. Except that stupid “marriage definition” thing we have this year. That’s an easy vote of “no”.)
brookem- Yes to both! Oh Leo. I was never a big fan back in his Titanic days but now… I’m all about him. I like how educated he is. And you know, he’s not bad looking either.
geekhiker- It’s funny, I thought about the whole ‘actors telling you what to do’ before posting this. I’ve read a lot of opposing views on whether celebrities should endorse people, should fund raise for candidates, should make commercials. And I know Kid Rock is against it (he’s the last one I read about who hated actors coming out talking politics), but I’m actually for it. The majority of the celebrities who do appear to be seriously endorsing people- John Cusack, Ben Affleck, Elisabeth Hasselbeck … all do so with a firm grasp on the issues- which I appreciate, and I think denying them the opportunity (or asking them not to) to share their views isn’t fair. Roughly 99.83 zillion bloggers share their views, is it okay to speak your mind just as long as you don’t have a large audience? And who decides when someone becomes ‘too famous’ to share their thoughts? Okay, that really has nothing to do with the majority of your comment though. It’s funny that you mentioned proposition 8… I read an interesting post about that last week. All I will say is that it rattled my nerves. I’d be voting the same as you.
How happy was I when I saw Leo on the first take … I’ve loved him since his Growing Pains days … I’ve followed his acting ever since. I would vote if I could … stupid technicality.
If it is possible, Sarah Palin scares me even more than McCain does.
Now that I work at home some I sometimes find myself watching the ridiculousness known at The View. WHY? It’s like I want to be annoyed.
Side note: I’m sure Elisabeth is trying, but I hate that she is the sole representation of the conservative viewpoint on the show. I know it must be hard to be in her shoes with the rest of the panel being so obviously and vehemently left, but sometimes she seems like a petulant, uninformed child.
I put up a “get drunk and make sarah palin okay” drinking game. It’s what I plan on going by.
p.s. do you mean this clip?

The View makes my brain explode.
I love this video more than words can say. It’s just wonderful
Thank you for reminding me how annoying Elisabeth Hasselbeck is.
“I’m at a point now where just the name “Sarah Palin” has me looking wildly around for a bottle” – haha! ME TOO!!!
Elisabeth, by her won admission, watches Hannity every night. Need I say more?
Thanks for posting the video. I had heard of it, but not seen it. It’s clever.
I agree…I’m afraid I’m going to have to take Friday off because I’m going to be hungover…and I won’t need a drinking game.
PS- The View has been pretaped for Friday, so we won’t get to see any cat fights about the debate until Monday.
Elisabeth annoys the CRAP ou tof me.
I’m looking wildly around for a bottle everytime elisabeth hasselbeck opens her mouth to blindly defend sarah palin.
i don’t have a problem that she defends her but she never provides good reasoning behind her position. i would respect her so much more if she did. instead, she always deflects the questions and inserts some jab about obama.
p.s. elisabeth and sean hannity (from fox noise) are pretty much besties in real life and repeat the same things about mccain/palin and obama/biden on their shows.
I think you know how I feel about Elisabeth. And dear God, Leo is hot.
Have you seen these ads w/Jessica Alba?

Brilliant I tell ya, brilliant.
I think everything has been said that I would say about this video- I really like it. Celebrities have every right to advocate for their candidates but here, here they’re advocating that we just exercise our right to vote. THAT BEING SAID, why did Ashton Kutcher come across as the only one who was insincere and reading from a script? Did he think this was a casting call for another dumb rom-com?
Who the hell isn’t registered to vote? That’s my question. I can see not being registered if you were a felon since 14, but for most of us it’s the first thing we do once we turn 18. Great clip.
Good point, Egan…when I turned 18 the first things I did were the following:
Buy a scratcher ticket
Buy my mom her cigarettes
All in that order. Yes, the scratcher ticket came first. I have priorities, yo!
Brandy, “youtubing it in” is class. I’m not going to watch the debates tonight. I have the health of my unborn child to think of…because like you, just hearing her name makes me want to down a couple bottles of Jack (and I don’t even like whiskey) and I know that fetal alcohol syndrome isn’t really on my list of wants. Also, I have a feeling that she’ll make my blood boil so much that I might start going into labor and I’m not ready for that yet. I still have a week left.
A bunch of ppl here at work are asking how to register to vote. They are all well over 25, ugh
While I don’t generally enjoy celebrities telling me what to do in a mildly condescending fashion, I too don’t understand how some people can NOT vote. It’s truly ridiculous….and Jonah Hill is pretty funny
And I like bragging about how I’ve not only registered, I’ve already voted! Yay for absentee voting while at college!
I give you serious credit for sitting through 45 minutes of clips of “loudly interrupting”…I could only last through about 5
)
Oh the thought of Palin sends me straight for several bottles of tequila as well. Tonights debate is sure going to be an interesting one! Lets see how many things I break throwing them at the tv…
i found the video kinda boring…but the message is an important one…so if it helps people see the necessity of having their vote counted, i’m all for it.
you have to understand the apathy of americas youth these days…its fightening
This is great – thanks for sharing! It’s mind-boggling that anyone in this country would not exercise their right to vote. I hope videos like this have some sort of impact on those types of people.
Loved Sarah Silverman’s “you can even do it while you’re pooping.” Total crack up.
Can’t wait to hear what you have to say about the VP debates!
That kinda makes me happy that as a Brazilian citizen I am obligated to vote since I am 18… 16 in some states… heheheh
seriously peeps… VOTE!!!
It cracks me up that you’re into this election and that you watch the View.
Seriously, come to the US. We need more people like you.
It disturbs me that for some people it isn’t natural to register to vote.
Ugh, I’m arguing with a cousin that won’t vote right now. It’s OK to slap family, right?
As for the drinking, I think it’s best that I just keep tonight’s going until (or possibly after) 4 Nov.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO.
Thank you.
you convinced me..I’m going to get some non-clean burning coal and strike it till it makes a flame of some sort so i can burn my voting card and increase the global warming all at once!
Hey, I have that same exact reaction to Palin.
I can’t imagine why anyone watches the view anymore…that show is out of control!
My roommate just turned 18 and I am happy to say she registered to vote the day after. Now it’s just helping her decide who to vote for….
On another note, loved the clip.
I’d never seen that video before. Thanks for sharing!
Interesting tid bit: Palin Syrah wine has plummeted in sales since Sarah Palin’s nomination. hahaha
