The male swim team makes me feel hairy August 15, 2008

Posted by brandy in I should be sleeping, I'm scared to see the search engine results to this, confession of the day, hello universe? I love you, i know- we all LOVE him, i wish i was water, it makes sense to me, it's a good thing, it's ironic because I'm Canadian, people i like, sports.
trackback

It’s after midnight and I’m exhausted. Watching 4 hours straight of Olympics is the most taxing thing I’ve done in recent days and I’m paying the price. I scream, I cheer, I stand on my couch. I cry, I sniffle, I count Chinese hair clips. I marvel at Phelps (did anyone else see the special they did on how his body is the perfect body for swimming? Fascinating- and I don’t mean that just in a sexual, hey, I-want-my-tongue-to-touch-your-abs way, I really mean it in the educational, I learned something way), giggle at Costas and have decided I would go clubbing with Usain Bolt.

The Olympics just make me feel like I swallowed a rainbow. I blame it on Morgan Freeman, athletes crying during the anthem playing and the wine I drink when I watch male swimmers with zero body fat or hair. They have the prettiest armpits I’ve ever seen.

What’s been your favorite moment so far?

(And if you want to be entertained, join twitter and follow the commentary by these girls. Their thoughts on the Olympics put Bob to shame).

I’m enjoying your Olympic tweets!

Yeah, it’s 11:30 here now in San Diego and I am still watching. Addicted. Totally. And yeah, the Phelps piece was magic.
I swear that in addition to watching swimming and gymnastics every night, I’ve seen every single match of beach volleyball with Walsh and May-Treanor. Those women kick ass! Especially the comeback they had to make in their first set today.
What’s weird is that next week will be all new sports! Track and stuff. Swimming and gymnastics end this weekend. How weird will that seem?

2. sizzlesays - August 15, 2008

It is 11:30 and I am still watching it. Of course, I don’t have to work tomorrow so I can sleep in (maybe). I can’t help it. I love the swimming! I love the horrible hair clips!

3. swaziprincess - August 15, 2008

The Morgan Freeman adds are my favorite. I cry every time I see them.
Besides that though I loved when Phelps and the rest of the relay team won and how excited they were, all the gymnastics (my brother is a gymnast so I’m a bit biased), and beach volleyball. Over all I think the Olympics is the most amazing thing ever invented and I wish it happened more often.

4. Ben - August 15, 2008

The male swimming team is giving me a complex. I haven’t eaten since opening ceremonies.

5. Ashley - August 15, 2008

I had to DVR the olympics last night because i was getting WAAAAYYY too into it. Kind of like every night and why i haven’t slept well in the past week…damn you swimmers and gymnasts! The sad thing is, swimming ends this week, no more hairless amazing V shaped bodies for me to jump up and down about.

6. Maxie - August 15, 2008

My favorite part of the Olympics is watching MPs mom every time he wins a medal. She’s way more entertaining :-)

7. Semichrmd - August 15, 2008

I have to agree with tpgoddess, everytime I turn on the tv I seem to catch Volleyball – and then I have to listen to the h say what a great butt mindy has, so yeah – I’m starting to get a little complex. Did you happen to see gymnastics last night? Yep – I was up at 1:30 wide awake, couldn’t peel my eyes off the tv. Must get sleep – NOW!

8. Sara Jane - August 15, 2008

Um…are you sitting at my house with me and I just don’t know it? I sat here, cried, marveled, counted clips and drank wine last night too!

9. Sicilian Mama - August 15, 2008

I count Chinese hair clips

I’m SO glad that I”m not the only one who does this! My husband thought I was crazy!

Also, though I don’t drool over Michael Phelps in a sexual way (I prefer my men manly…with hair on their bodies…not necessarily so much hair they look like a sasquatch, but you get what I”m saying)…anyway, while I don’t drool over MP that way, I have to agree that the little segment they did about his body being perfect for swimming. Size 14 feet? Although…it was hard not to stare at his package…stupid Speedos.

10. Accidentally Me - August 15, 2008

Swimmers bodies are just so…YUM!!! Michael Phelps is kind of goofy looking, but Holy Christ do I want to rub oil all over his body!!!

And, when they talked about his huge hands and huge feet…were you thinking the same thing I was? :-D

11. littlespoon - August 15, 2008

I only get to watch so much of the Olympics but when I do I groan when i have to turn it off!

12. rye - August 15, 2008

Every time I try to watch, it’s something boring I can’t get into. Like freakin’ baseball. Although I did catch a little beach volleyball yesterday, so that was cool.

13. brookem - August 15, 2008

ha, we share the same brain i swear. i drank wine and watched swimming last night too. ryan lochte is my boyfriendfavorite.

14. anne - August 15, 2008

I have not gone to bed before 1 EST in a week, I have not had sex, I barely move from the couch. We left the house for 1 hour to have a drink with a friend – which entailed me sitting and watching the Olympics at the bar and him socializing. That part was pretty cool since it was when Lochte won and we are in Florida country – where Lochte goes to school.

15. Lauren - August 15, 2008

The hair clips are the best! And they always match. I love gymnastics, it’s my favorite every time. Last night was AMAZING, too. Did you see the special on Phelps that showed how much he ate a day? And what his typical routine is? Jeez!

16. amindinmotown - August 15, 2008

I’m completely Olympics-addicted, and I was totally counting Chinese hair clips during gymnastics (um, why can the Americans pull their hair back with about three – one for the bangs, two on the side, maybe a fourth one underneath – and the 12-year-old Chinese girls need about 17? I don’t get it.).

And the armpits… Why are Michael Phelps’ armpits nicer than mine? Sheesh. I think he should endorse a razor. Every girl, and metrosexual man, would likely purchase it.

17. Ashley - August 15, 2008

I don’t know how people can not watch the olympics. I laugh, I cry, I scream, I dance, I cringe, I squeal. It’s addicting!

18. egan - August 15, 2008

Hands down I loved the men’s 400 x 100m freestyle relay. I had to watch it a few times over and over it was so incredible.

19. Renee - August 15, 2008

Hahaha, glad someone enjoyed my tweets as much as I did. I even bypassed noting my 500th tweet because I was having too much fun ridiculing other gymnasts. Sometimes I just can’t keep my inner Mean Girl quiet.

20. desiree - August 15, 2008

I’m so exhausted with you! I stayed up WAY too late watching the little gymnists. I’m in awe of them. I love watching gymnastics. That is my favorite part of the Olympics.

21. justrun - August 15, 2008

I am overdosing and I love it. The freestyle relay was the first time I cried and cheered (at events that ALREADY HAPPENED) and I haven’t stopped since.

Good news, your post is being used to drum up readership on an aggregator blog. Happy Friday!

24. La Petite Belle - August 15, 2008

my favorite moment? The hot men. hahaha!

25. katelin - August 15, 2008

i have been such an olympic nut too, it’s crazy. my fave moment has to be the men’s relay comeback to beat france. seriously, that was just ridiculous. and i definitely jumped up and down screaming at my tv.

26. cowboysandcubicles - August 15, 2008

My favourite moment? Remember that time (‘that time’ being this entire last week) when Canada failed to get a medal? Not even one?

It’s too depressing for words. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed for the Men’s 8 this weekend.

27. geekhiker - August 15, 2008

I can’t really name a favorite, as I seem to be enjoying pretty much all of it. I’ve decidedly mixed feelings about the coverage, I have to admit. I mean, I’m all for cheering on my own country but, darn it, if we don’t win a medal, I’d still like to see the awards ceremony, hear the other country’s anthem. Is that too much to ask?

28. Paula - August 16, 2008

I was sooo excited about the Olympics (I’ve been waiting for it for YEARS – literally!) and I’ve forgot to watch any of it. Right – I’m starting today. I’ve certainly got nothing better to do!

BTW loving the title of this post! :)

29. ally - August 16, 2008

I’m the odd woman out….I’ve not watched a single second! Glad you’re enjoying it so much.

30. brookem - August 17, 2008

the hills starts this week!

that is all.

31. Princess Extraordinaire - August 17, 2008

I love to see the athletes families tearing up and cheering their loved one’s on – it always makes me cry – I also love the medal ceremonies – they leave me feeling so proud to be an American.

32. Celisse Wordpower - August 17, 2008

I’m basically Olympics obsessed. I have too many favorite parts to list. I’m dreading the inevitable depression I’ll fall into once the games are over hahaha. But one of my favorite parts thus far was Brazil’s Cesar Cielo Filho SOBBING after he won the gold in the 50m free.

And of course Hottie Relay #1…..

33. nicoleantoinette - August 17, 2008

Oh God yes, the Chinese hair clips. I don’t quite know what to make of them, but I *loved* this post. I have Olympic fever too, so badly. What am I going to do when they’re over? Thank God the Democratic Convention starts the next day.

And then there’s always the WW, no?

34. Stephanie - August 18, 2008

I too saw the review on Phelps body… was I the only one who noticed that his Speedo suit left absolutely nothing to the imagination?? Yowzers!

35. emmaenlighted - August 19, 2008

Oh, definitely watching Phelps. *Drool*
