Because originality is overrated June 17, 2008

Posted by brandy in Fox is foxy, and now you might know everything, because I can't do report cards 24/7, books, confession of the day, i know too much about magnets, let's not talk about how long this took, men, people i like, the J.O.B., the world according to me, what i found when i went looking, you're skimming this one.
trackback

I’ve seen about 900 gazillion different versions of photo memes going around. Because I’m lazy a trailblazer, I decided to write a post about my life and include as many silly photos of people I don’t know as possible.  Because what’s creepier than putting pictures of children you don’t know on your blog? Absolutely nothing.

I get up around…
530-am.jpg

I’m a teacher, so many people suspect I walk each day into a roomful of children who look like this:
good-kids.jpg

Which would be fantastic, but it’s entirely inaccurate. I have a few who look like this:

crazy-child.jpg

And one that totally reminds me of:
walter-4.jpg

They are fantastic, but after a really long week I admit- that I fight the urge to
drinking-alone.jpg

alone in my car during lunch hour.

After work, I spend a lot of time
marking.jpg,

or at least pretending to. When I’ve convinced myself that I’ve actually accomplished something with my handy green pen (I have bad memories of a red pen marks all over my paper, thus I mark with green), I turn to helping the economy by shopping for the perfect pair of
jeans.jpg
which is damn near impossible. After almost 10 years of dedicated hunting, I’m no closer to finding the perfect pair of jeans. Perhaps if I was willing to pay enough to feed a family of 4 for an entire year, I would have them, but I refuse. Not on principle or anything remotely moralistic, but because at the end of the month, I’d rather chose to pay for gas to fill my car rather than new jeans. (WAIT?! Does such a confession mean I’m an adult?)

And because I can nerd it up, I also like to:

a lot in my spare time. And lately, I’ve been making that same face when picking up a book. I blame it on the fact that I’m reading

and I just read 1.7 million pages on how Scott was a champion against hazing in his university days. And I can’t even make a joke about that, because it’s the truth and it’s too sad to be funny.

Each night, I promise myself to go to bed at ten, but sadly by the time I get under the covers, it’s closer to:

So, when my alarm clock blasts in the morning, I tend to scream in unhappiness. I imagine I look something like this:

Charming, I know.

And for no other reason that I love him with every ounce of my soul, every hair on my head, with every taste bud on my tongue, the one and the only… the David:

Go ahead. Lick your computer screen. I know you want to.

You are not alone in your David love. You are not alone. <3

2. swaziprincess - June 17, 2008

I’m a book nerd too :]

3. Princess of the Universe - June 17, 2008

That’s a good photo of him. All scruffy sexy…

4. Princess Pointful - June 18, 2008

I’m all about the creepy random pictures.
*fist bumps Brandy over their common creepiness*

5. nicoleantoinette - June 18, 2008

Ha, trailblazing indeed.

Now where is season 2 of Californication??

6. Marianne - June 18, 2008

Can’t believe you teach a child who looks like Walter Matthau – too funny!

7. L.C.T. - June 18, 2008

Cute photos. A story well told! As for the jeans – try finding ones that fit happily with 29 waist and 37 legs! Nightmare!

8. Kevin Spencer - June 18, 2008

Excellent photos. I too am a book nerd. You’ll forgive me if I don’t lick the screen ;-)

9. brookem - June 18, 2008

this post made me smile and get excited for several reasons. one being, that i just LOVE that you use GREEN markers! i love green! secondly, the whole “perfect pair of jeans thing” …? i thought it was a myth, but apparently, it’s not- there are two stores in boston that you will need to check out with me this summer (ahem) that do “custom fittings.”

by the way, “custom fitting” makes me think of bridal gowns and the like. and since, shit, we aint doing any of that type of fitting, methinks that custom jean fitting is the single girl’s right. so, we will need to do that, and i will even do tequila shots with you, because that’s just the kind of friend i am.

10. brookem - June 18, 2008

oh, and yeah, i kind of do want to lick david. or um, the screen.

11. Rachel - June 18, 2008

I like this…I’m thinking about being a teacher, but I’m just not so sure.

12. Sara Jane - June 18, 2008

I love it! You know sometimes you can get really good jeans on sale. In Aug, Nordstrom will have their Anniversary sale, and they’re usually almost affordable.

I love that you use green. Red still haunts me too!

I licked the screen! He’s delicious!

13. Dutchess of Kickball - June 18, 2008

That is certainly the hottest picture of David ever. He is pretty lickalicious.

14. poodlegoose - June 18, 2008

I love hearing about your Walter kid. I don’t even know him, but already, I love him.

And I’d bring a flask. . . just in case lunchtime is a little too short ;)

15. teabelly - June 18, 2008

My brother is a teacher, so I definitely know from his stories that they are sadly not all little angels. I admire anyone willing to do that job, it seems so hard.

16. evans - June 18, 2008

Are you really grading papers or is that Sudoku? or are you secretly bloogging and making up new outfits online?

17. Sicilian Mama - June 18, 2008

You are too cute. I love this post. I’ve never seen it before, so it’s all new to me (is that what happens when you limit yourself to a certain # of blogs to read? Sad…).

And that is a really good picture of David. Really good.

18. Dingo - June 18, 2008

Awwww, Walter!! Does your Walter wear suits to school? Because while the image of Walter you created has me thinking he’s an adorable kid, I find kids in suits absolutely creepy.

19. Beth - June 18, 2008

Made me laugh out loud, at work.

My job makes me want to throw a few back during lunch hour, and I don’t even work with anyone, so I can’t imagine what you go through.

And I refuse to read that book because the injustice will disgust me, so i’m glad someone can read it. I stick to rewatching the movie “Recount” over and over, and I had a previous repeated fling with the book “The Greatest Story Ever Sold”, unfortunately both make me lose faith in this country. But hey, when in Rome (I really don’t think that phrase applies to this situation…)

20. littlespoon - June 18, 2008

I think we all could use some more Walter stories :)

21. freckledk - June 18, 2008

Ahhhh…The David. Love.

Ahhh….

22. Semichrmd - June 18, 2008

Is it sad that I too plan to make it to 10:00 when unfortunately I end up crashing around 8:30?? Pathetic would be more like it. Ahhh – the search for the perfect pair of jeans (or even pants for that matter) – honestly I think it’s an urban legend, they don’t exsist – anywhere, unless as you said your willing to sacrifice enough money to feed a small village for a month than no thanks. As for Duchovony, delightful. Is it me or does he just get hotter and hotter everyday? Hmm. As a side note do you like this What happened book? My husband is reading it, after a massive man hunt to locate the book & I hear his senate hearings are coming up, interesting?

23. heidikins - June 18, 2008

I like to think that David is always alone…and waiting for a certain someone. Swoon!

xox

24. La Petite Belle - June 18, 2008

um, yeah nice try but he’s mine. MINE. you hear that? MINE!

25. kristin - June 18, 2008

haha! That was too cute. :)

26. Deutlich - June 18, 2008

Oh, David. I love thee.

And mayhaps I should pick up that book? I read one by Al Franken many years ago and it pissed me off so bad i’ve been afraid to pick up another political book since then

27. Lauren - June 18, 2008

Ah! I like it! Also, it’s ridiculously impossible to find a perfect pair of jeans. I’ve spent my whole life searching. It’s a very sad search.

28. Stephanie - June 18, 2008

I do want to lick my computer screen. Mmm.

29. Not Carrie Bradshaw - June 18, 2008

So is the Scott McClellan book worth it? I work in PR so I’m tempted to read it. Also, have you seen the Purina commercials with David doing the voice-overs? Too cute.

30. geekhiker - June 18, 2008

Heh heh heh – damn funny post.

No urge to lick the screen here (can’t you post a cute girl pic at some point? LOL), but there’s a heck of a lot of guys getting married here in CA this week who probably would…

And I so know where you’re coming from on that darn getting to bed too late thing…

31. Mel Heth - June 18, 2008

Are you going to plan an X-Files II movie premier party? I believe one is in order.

32. pam - June 18, 2008

oooo…David. Consider my computer screen just licked. =)

33. girlinterrupted1218 - June 18, 2008

Are you telling me you sit alone in your car at lunch doing tequila shots! You must be one helluva teacher! LOL!

34. egan - June 18, 2008

Best post ever! Me loves photos and few words.

35. Katrin - June 18, 2008

You get up at 5:30 am?!! OHMYGOD!!! You poor thing.

And that picture of David is cute. Although I do not share your fascination (that much).

36. JK - June 18, 2008

I identify with so much of this, I don’t even know where to start.

Can’t fall asleep at night, wake up too early to walk into my classroom of devil children(well, not all of them), too short to ever find perfect jeans, love reading, nerdiness and tequila shots, and David Duchovny is hot and the X-Files was a great show!

OK, Done! Loved the post if you couldn’t tell.

37. alexa - June 18, 2008

i walter matheau child kind of scares me!

haha.

38. alexa - June 18, 2008

and yeah, i have no idea how to correctly spell his last name

39. Larissa - June 19, 2008

Is that an oil painting of David Duchovny? It looks too pretty to be a real photo. Seriously.

40. Rebekah - June 19, 2008

Wait, you didn’t tag anyone for your super-duper-original meme!

And P.S., the jeans… find them in the store, try on, buy on eBay. $75 Rock and Republic authentics. You can’t feed a family of four – even on those Save the Children only 86 cents a day commercials- for one year on $75.

41. Diane Mandy - June 20, 2008

Very nice, Brandy! And David is so lickable, likable. Cannot wait for the next X-files movie to come out!

42. Dustin - June 20, 2008

Ya, 10 o’clock bed times are such a great goal to have, but in reality it totally never happens.

And yes, alarm clocks are the devil.

43. Maxie - June 21, 2008

cute meme :-)

let me know how the scott mcclellan book is when you finish. I wanted to pick it up, but I kind of think it might be a bunch of annoying rambling about himself.

44. emmaenlighted - June 21, 2008

LOL, hilarious post! Loved the pictures that described your daily day :)
