This is how I start my day, indeed. May 15, 2008

Posted by brandy in Annie Lebowitz is so jealous, i need to spend more time on spelling, the J.O.B., what the hell, youth.
trackback

Two minutes after I found this (propped against my apple cider cup) I was told that the author of this note called one classmate a fatty, had been throwing large rocks at the head of another student and had taken someones shoes and threw them down the twisty slide.

The sucking up? It starts young.

LOVE the note.
“The sucking up? It starts young.” Tell me about it.
The day someone’s been sticking their tongue out at others, throwing sand at them, lying on the floor and screaming during story-time - that’s the day I usually get a flower from them :)

4. Melissa - May 16, 2008

hahaha oh man. I love kids.

17. Dingo - May 16, 2008

I don’t get the “awww, cute” vibe. Maybe I’m just jaded from dealing with my kids every day but is the “inthe erth” a veiled threat?

Just kidding!!

18. Rebekah - May 16, 2008

You know his mom told him to do that.

19. Megan - May 16, 2008

One of the best things about working with kids is the handmade suck-up notes. From my mom, an elementary school teacher turned principal, I learned that it is NEVER too early to start sucking up! Clearly this kid is destined for great things.

20. Princess Pointful - May 16, 2008

Can I just plug my ears and pretend I didn’t hear that last part??
PS. I’m the most horrible commenter ever lately. Very sorry.

Holy Buffy Season 6! I did not know you had been buried, Brandy!
I am just going to trust the kid you are “the best teacher in the erth!”

27. Jessica - May 16, 2008

Even if it’s sucking up. that’s still a sweet note to receive first-thing in the morning. Before reality sets in :)

28. 'liya - May 16, 2008

Smart kid!

Very cute :D

29. Larissa - May 17, 2008

Kids can be wily. I’ll remember this post when I start to have children.

30. Essentially Me - May 17, 2008

I totally love this! It’s always these kids who profess their love for their teacher! I have this kid in my class who is the thorn in my side, but everytime he does something shitty and I ream him out for it, he does something along these lines to make things better.

And I totally dig the way he spelled erth. That’s a kid who knows how to sound out his letters.

(Hmm … I just realized that I’m assuming the author is a “he”. Tsk, tsk on my part.)

31. agirlinterrupted - May 17, 2008

HA! HA! They learn early.

32. geekhiker - May 17, 2008

Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! *snicker*

Noooooo. I wasn’t like that kid myself at that age. Not at all. Really.

33. egan - May 18, 2008

Gotta watch out for those womanizers, they start early.

34. What Liz Said - May 19, 2008

Ahaha, wow. He’ll be the one throwing up his hands to his girlfriend down the line going “It wasn’t me!”

35. Semichrmd - May 19, 2008

Awwww…….what a sweetie. If that isn’t the greatest way to start a work day then I don’t what is! Except, well…..maybe George Clooney next to you.

36. eyeingtenure - May 19, 2008

Flattery gets you everywhere, if you have a measure of subtlety.

37. katelin - May 19, 2008

haha that is awesome. it’s a cute note even if he was sucking up to you.

38. Abbie - May 19, 2008

lol, it’s cute. Probably has his poor parents wrapped ’round his little pinky!

39. poodlegoose - May 20, 2008

Man, sucking up starts young these days ;) I mean, a letter? That’s more than I used to ever do.

And erth. Aw. I love kids’ spelling.
