I never thought I’d say this but…. May 12, 2008

Posted by brandy in blogs, cnn makes my heart beat fast, confession of the day, politics.

I’m tired of American politics.

If someone says the words “Obama”, “Hillary” or “white, blue collar vote” to me today, I may just kill myself with a stapler.

On the upside, this has brought me a great deal of joy this morning.

I thought we were so close to having something resolved so we wouldn’t have to hear it until at least September. Grrr.

2. Ruby - May 12, 2008

You can’t attempt to kill yourself with a stapler today, you have to hold a child’s ice cream later on today so he can get his coat on. That takes priority. :)
There are Pottery Barns in Canada, three in the Toronto area so having them ship fabulousness to your door shouldn’t be a problem but I would suggest you come to Toronto to shop! I think I even know where you can stay…

3. Bre - May 12, 2008

Oh I’m right there with you! It was all well and good for me up to Pennsylvania’s primary. Once I got to vote though? I’m done!

4. Sicilian Mama - May 12, 2008

You lasted longer than I did. I was tired of it in February. We haven’t even had our primary in our state. Ugh.

5. Sara Jane - May 12, 2008

Don’t use a stapler! That would hurt too much!

6. brookem - May 12, 2008

Oh, I’ve been done with it for a long time. Don’t hate me for saying that.

Fun site you linky loved to there.

7. Diane Mandy - May 12, 2008

Say it isn’t so!

8. Exception - May 12, 2008

*sigh* I was tired of it before it ever began! I loved your enthusiasm for the race though… it was refreshing to see someone excited about the whole thing.

It is a sad day indeed!

9. Carrie - May 12, 2008

WHAT. You’re so over it now?? But… no. I can understand. Let’s just get to Republicans Vs. Democrats already!

10. Rachel - May 12, 2008

Me too…I’m just ready for this race to be over, because everyone is criticizing one another, and I’m just ready to move on.

11. Larissa - May 12, 2008

Passive aggressive notes…brilliant!

And yes, I’m so over it too. My husband is still passionately following the race, but I think the steam in him is about to fade soon.

12. Jess - May 12, 2008

I totally agree. And I too would never have thought I’d say such a thing.

13. ammanners - May 12, 2008

Brandy - step slowly away from CNN and do not return until August. Change the chanel to MTV and watch the Hills on repeat.

14. Keri - May 12, 2008

I agree….. a lady i work with has a friend who calls herself “Obamalady”
FREAK! LOL
Have a great day!

15. K - May 12, 2008

I am so with you on this. I just cant be fricking bothered. I am afraid I wont vote in November if I dont detox

16. nicoleantoinette - May 12, 2008

If you’re over it, imagine how all of the people who weren’t that into it in the first place feel, haha!

17. CableGirl - May 12, 2008

You’re not the only one sick of the mess…. but unlike you, I do still have to care.

18. Evans - May 12, 2008

It all begins to feel like “Gone with the Wind”- a great epic tale, the salvation of the US as a backdrop, race issues, a war still raging, but it’s just too long for one sitting and most end up feeling all Rhett Butler-ey in the end, “frankly, I don’t give a damn” and staring so long at the curtains, waiting for election results after each primary, we begin to ponder what outfits we can make out of them… :-)

19. Jessica - May 12, 2008

I hate to say it but I’m getting tired of politics too. I know who I’m voting for and honestly it’s just painful to watch endless coverage after a while. Fingers crossed this will calm for a bit soon.

20. geekhiker - May 12, 2008

You? Tired of our politics? Oh, no, I think my world has been shaken.

Imagine how it is down here. It’s louder. And it’s all the ‘freakin time….

21. Deutlich - May 12, 2008

AGREED

22. justrun - May 12, 2008

Ooof, yes. Pass stapler, please.

23. katelin - May 12, 2008

i’m definitely getting tired of our politics, it’s sort of ridiculous now.

24. notperfectdotcom - May 12, 2008

I know!! I’m still in it because the fella is still in it and I don’t want him to think I don’t “support” his passion. We went to my mom’s this weekend and between both my BIL, my cousins and their friends, I almost went deaf with all the opinions and shouting and arguing.

I just wanted to see my mom and wish her happy mother’s day :(
Eventually she got tired and went upstairs to rest while the politicians continued for the rest of the night *sigh*

25. HippieChyck - May 12, 2008

i’m not tired of it. but i’m tired of talking about it.

26. eyeingtenure - May 12, 2008

Red Swingline Stapler, I presume?

27. semichrmd - May 12, 2008

I so agree with Bre - I was totally pumped up until PA came along - I guess I lost my thunder. Let’s just hope you don’t get tired of CNN - then we might have a problem.

28. 1218blog - May 12, 2008

I think we all feel the same way these days. I am so sick of it I could scream sometimes.

29. brandy - May 12, 2008

Tiff- Me too!!!

Ruby- Your comment made me smile. And I’m not talking about the ice cream part- hooray for Pottery Barn! Just kidding. And I should come to Toronto. I’ve never been and I’ve always wanted to go!

Bre- I’m loving that other people are finding this as tiring as me. Perhaps they should have some sort of intermission…

SM- Yeah.. it’s sort of exhausting now…

Sara Jane- Desperate times call for desperate measures.

brookem- I could never hate you. Who else would I talk to the hills with?

Exception- I’m hoping the love isn’t gone for good. Perhaps I just need a break? Fingers crossed I’ve recovered by November

Carrie- I know, I know… but I overdosed on Wolf Blitzer and now just the sound of Larry King’s theme music makes me twitch. I think I know more about John King’s personal life than my own. I need a break.

Rachel- Ditto.

Larissa- I really do love that site. And I thought it fitting to share in the same post where I wave the white flag in regards to this election. Seems like there’s so much passive aggressiveness going on…

Jess- I’m glad I’m not alone!!

Anne- I knew you would know what to do.

Keri- Obamalady? If you are going to go that route, I think OBAMAMAMA sounds cooler. And definitely looks cooler. Whoa. I can’t stop looking at that now…

K- I love that you used the word ‘detox’

Nicole- I know! My friend said that to me today. Point well taken.

CG- Well, if it’s any consolation I feel like I should still care too and that by not caring, I’m deserting the country. You know, the one I don’t live in. Ahh my priorities are so screwed up.

Evans- You make me laugh. It makes me wonder though.. who is Bill Clinton in your scenario?

Jessica- The fingers? Are crossed.

geekhiker- I know. I didn’t want to say anything but seriously? The brain is hurting.

Deutlich- I thought you might be thinking the same thing…

Justrun- Office supplies will never be looked at the same.

Katelin- Agreed!!

notperfectdotcom- That’s the thing- it’s gone on so long that it’s really divided people more than united them. People have had more time to learn about each candidate, to find who they want, to fully invest in supporting them that they are more stubborn when it comes to seeing the other persons view. At least that’s what I’m finding. In others and in myself.

HC- Maybe that’s a better way to say it…

eyeingtenure- Only the best for me. :)

Semichrmd- CNN has lost me. Campbell Brown and her cute shoes and glossy hair hurts my head. And Lou Dobbs? LOU DOBBS??? He gives me nightmares. The only one I want to spend time with is David Gergen. Because I want him to come over and tell me old timey stories.

1218Blog- Let me know when you are going to scream. I will at the same time.

30. Lauren - May 13, 2008

I love the passive aggressive site! And as for politics, I’m getting sick of them as well. I usually love hearing about a good presidential election, but right now, it’s out of hand.

31. egan - May 14, 2008

It really has turned into a bunch of horseshit. Now be thankful it’s not your country. It’s funny because I used to follow every twist and turn of the primaries and now I just don’t give a shit. Sweet, just what America needs, disenfranchised voters.

32. Sarah - May 14, 2008

the security guard where I work is OBSESSED with OBAMA. We get nearly hourly updates, and he’s SO passionate, that it’s hard to turn away…I’ve made him promise that once this is all settled, he can’t even speak the word “OBAMA” until November. I can’t take it anymore!

33. Jennifer - May 15, 2008

“I may just kill myself with a stapler.” You are funny.

34. Rebekah - May 15, 2008

NOT WITH THE STAPLER!!!!
