Bonjour my friends! I am back! First of all, let me give a big huge thanks to Brookem for filling in (and writing the nicest, most lovely post that filled my heart with happiness- seriously, anytime a post involves Hills talk, I label it a 5 star event). She really is fantastic and our Hills emails should pretty much be filed under “A” for awesome.

Now. Vegas. There’s so much to say, it’s hard to figure out where to start. So, let’s do it this way. Below are 10 statements. Some are true and some are false. Figure out which ones are true, and you will have a pretty good idea of the awesomeness that was my trip. And if you are the first person to get them all right- I will send you a big, heaping pile of smiles.

1. I rode an elevator with a groom and a bride in her wedding dress. TRUE

2. I went to STOMP and am now a hand-clapping, foot-stomping lunatic. TRUE

3. I got the greatest picture of the fountains! FALSE. It was on our list of things to do but… it just never got done.

4. I rented a car, drove to the Hoover dam and took pictures of my friend in a plastic construction cap. TRUE! YEAH!!

5. I fell in lust with a Republican named Matt. FALSE. I COULD NEVER.

6. I made $6 by rating shampoo scents and a scary movie theatre trailer while drinking from a 16 ounce container filled with strawberry margarita love. TRUE. The movie is called “Creep” and is about the Nazi occult (I think??). When the creepy, gore-filled trailer comes out- don’t blame me. I gave it poor marks.

7. Victoria’s Secret screwed up my purchase and I walked out with a t-shirt I didn’t pay for. TRUE. Seriously. I’ve got mondo good luck when it comes with the free clothes yo!

8. I spent too much money on blackjack. FALSE. I gambled once on the last day. I lost $25, my friend made money, then we split her money and I won on that. I think we ended up $7 ahead. I’d much rather spend the money on clothes than gambling.

9. I stood at the top of the Eiffel Tower. TRUE. Paris Hotel, you are beautiful!

10. A strange man told his friend he wanted to suck my toe rings. HARD. TRUE. Uncomfortable in so many ways….

As for calling Vegas, “LV”- that was inspired from a conversation where it was decided that calling Vegas “the V” just didn’t feel right. And by that I mean, it didn’t seem correct to label a city that holds so many wonderful shopping centers and works of art a name that reminded me of the word vagina.

Now. I’m off to print photos, unpack, catch up on blogs (google reader- I’m refreshed! Your smug triple digit number of ‘unread posts’ does not scare me. I shall win this battle!), nap and dream about a time where breakfast was free and someone else made my bed when I left my room.

Sigh. Anyone want to plan a trip??

(Oh! Also… time to share a little known dorky interesting fact about me. When I first went to the US in the late 90’s, I got a few quarters that had the states on them. For reasons I DO NOT UNDERSTAND, this idea of collecting all fifty state quarters settled into my brain and it became an obsession. Collecting these quarters while living in Canada was difficult because our dollar was always so bad that people held onto American money here like it was a piece of the Holy Grail- or the key to getting your hair to look identical to Jen Aniston’s. After the big LV trip however, I’m pleased to report that I’m much closer to my goal. States I currently have: Utah, California, Connecticut, West Virgina, Maine, Delaware, Rhode Island, Texas, Louisiana, California, Michigan and Wyoming. If you have any states that I don’t have and want to do some sort of trade, LET ME KNOW!)

1. Deutlich - March 27, 2008

I want to see STOMP SO badly it’s not even funny.

2. Each - March 27, 2008

number 5 is not true, NO ONE lusts after Republicans

3. Christina - March 27, 2008

I suck at guessing, so I wont, but having just been to Vegas myself what is the most interesting is that all of those things are totally possible there!!

Welcome back – good luck with the catching up :-)

4. brookem - March 27, 2008

YAY!!! You’re back! I missed you heaps!

Hmm… I’m going to say that 4 is false… and you said more than one might be so… hmm… also … 3?

5. brookem - March 27, 2008

And you know what else? I didn’t watch The Hills yet from this week, did you? So we can watch and catch up together and it will be like no time ever lapsed!

I want a Stawberry Marg right now.

6. Nilsa S. - March 27, 2008

Sounds like a fantastic trip! Toe sucking and all. Even if none of your list is true and you’re strictly sticking to the mantra, “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” … I’m pretty sure you had a fabulous time!

7. Renee - March 27, 2008

I hope it was just lust with Matt the Republican. It’s okay, we all make mistakes sometimes.

8. Sicilian Mama - March 27, 2008

False =
#3…no one gets a good picture of the fountains…I refuse to believe it…it’s simply impossible

and #8…with all the shopping and sightseeing and drinking to do…I just highly doubt this one

All the rest? Completely true. Especially #2. This I completely see you doing. I’m so glad you had a good time!! Man, I want to go to Vegas NOW! Weren’t we going to plan some kind of blogger summit in VEgas? Hmmm…

I told my husband that I wanted to go again before I was too pregnant to fly out there. If I don’t get out there in the next few months, I won’t be able to go this year and it will ruin my run of going every year for the past 8 years!

9. anne - March 27, 2008

Oooh fun…I’ve never been to LV, as I hear it is called.

10. Princess Pointful - March 27, 2008

The Republican.
Did you ever see that horrible movie with Geena Davis (remember her?) where a Republican and Democrat campaigner fall in love?

11. Michelle and the City - March 27, 2008

a republican named matt? i think we need to hear more to this story! ;)

12. Katrin - March 27, 2008

Hmmm… sounds like a fantastic trip! I don’t believe the married couple in the elevator. Too stereotypical. Or were you the one in the elevator with Matt, the Republican? :)

13. littlespoon - March 27, 2008

Dude-I have a Maryland quarter chillaxing in my wallet right now…I know you’re trembling with jealousy :)

You need to get one of these: http://www.classiccollect.net/coins.htm

14. karijo09 - March 27, 2008

I happen to KNOW a republican named Matt! Or at least know of him…hmmm…he’s not the type of guy anyone would lust after tho…

I LOVE LV. We got married there so the possibility of riding in an elevator with a bride? Totally plausible! We’re going back before next May b/c that will be our fifth wedding anniversary. Shew. Time flies!

15. aRbit - March 27, 2008

Hi Brandy, Welcome back :) Glad you had fun in LV.
I’m guessinghoping the one where the strange man told his friend he wanted to suck your toe rings is the one that’s false.
If you want US quarters, I have a bunch of extras. I’ll email you a list in a while so you can let me know if you want any of those. Btw listing California twice doesn’t make it two states you know :)

16. poodlegoose - March 27, 2008

Too bad I just quit the bank. I could have acquired every state quarter you could ever need. Those and the golden dollars with the presidents on them. I hated people who would call and ask if we could save them at least 10 rolls of each. Stupids.

And everything one thing that might have happened sounds like it would be great if it happened. So, I’ll say all 10.

I’m glad you had a great time… and I enjoyed the drunk post you gave us ;)

17. tiff - March 27, 2008

i totally collect those quarters too, but the one I don’t have is the state I live in – Michigan!!

18. Kathryn - March 27, 2008

I am guessing ALL are true

sounds like you had a fab trip

will check on which states I have

I know I have some, just don’t know which

19. Jess - March 27, 2008

Yay! Welcome back! It sounds like an AWESOME trip. But where are the photos?

20. Clearlykels - March 27, 2008

I going with losing at blackjack being false…. and I used to lust after a Republican named Matt. He’d say things about the death penalty and all I’d hear is ‘La la la I’m cute la la la”

21. sizzlesays - March 27, 2008

I hope they are ALL true!

Welcome back. :)

22. egan - March 27, 2008

Naysayers, so not true since I lust after Republicans John McCain and Arlen Specter… threesome baby!

I think the Washington state quarters just get put into circulation. I will give you four of them for a Canadian one dollar bill. Deal?

I’m glad you’re back and not married to K-Fed.

23. egan - March 27, 2008

Damn, I was going with to say what Sizzle did about the fake stories. I want them all to be true, but you weren’t in LV long enough for that to be the case. Let’s guess 2 and 10 are false. I like patterns.

24. katelin - March 27, 2008

sounds like a great trip to vegas. but where are the great photos to go with it? :)

25. Larissa - March 27, 2008

I’m going to Vegas this weekend…hope I don’t run into your toe-sucking friend. Yikes.

26. ally - March 27, 2008

Totally unrelated: I just clicked on a link on cdp’s blog and read this blog that contained your “Here I Am” post with minor changes. Weird. Why would someone plagiarize a blog. I think I remember this happening to you before too….same girl?

27. brandy - March 27, 2008

Deutlich- I saw it! It’s bloody brilliant. The things those people do… just the one guy clapping his hands and slapping his chest was enough to pay for the ticket in my books. Then they strap on this harness and swing around hitting garbage lids… amazing!

Each- ;) You raise a good point. But Rob Lowe is a Republican and I would still want to let him slip his ballot in my box.

Christina- Aww thanks! The catching up is definitely taking longer than expected (who knew?!)

brookem- 4 is actually true. And one of the things I’m most proud of us doing in Vegas. Renting a car and going somewhere… that’s a grown up thing to do! 3 is definitely false. (Amanda got it right too!). As for the hills- I haven’t watched yet either!! I like your plan. Watch together!

Nilsa- That I did. Oh Vegas. I miss you already.

Renee- Your comment made me laugh out loud. Sadly, that was one of the false ones. I actually didn’t fall in love with anyone. Or even in lust with anyone. I know. I’m shocked too.

PP- No, but I’m definitely going to have to check that out. I like the idea of it. I can imagine the sex would be pretty hot. But then I would look into his eyes and see things like ’small government’ and ‘ death penalty’ and ‘no abortion’ and lose my will to kiss. And what the hell happened to Geena??

Michelle- Sadly, that was a false one..

littlespoon- I’m actually trembling with jealousy- how did you know?! And I love that you said the quarter was chillaxing.

karijo09-Yep, the bride one was true. As for getting married there, that would be fun. There’s definitely so much stuff to check out there!

aRbit- Sadly the toe one is TRUE! It broke my heart he was so creepy, though my friend got a laugh out of it. As for the quarters- whoo hee! I’m excited!!

poodlegoose- Seriously? People would call and request 10 rolls? That’s a bit nuts. Even by my standards.

Tiff- How is it possible that I own a Michigan and you don’t??

Kathryn- Thanks dude!! It’s great to be back. Though, I miss Jimmy Buffet and his margaritas.

Jess- Photos are coming. I packed 5 pairs of shoes but forgot my camera. But I’m getting copies of all the photos so just watch out for the madness in days to come.

Clearlykels- Your comment made me laugh out loud. I can totally picture it!

Sizzle- Aww thanks!!

egan- I do love how you like to shake things up in your comments. As for the deal, I would totally do it (and you know I would) but the last time I saw a Canadian dollar bill I’m pretty sure I didn’t have a driver’s license. What about a shiny loonie?? And 2 and 10 are both true sucker!

Katelin- Coming soon!!

Larissa- Whoo hoo! I’m so jealous! You are going to have so much fun!

Ally- Aww thanks for telling me about this. Crazy people suck.

28. geekhiker - March 27, 2008

LOL – You remembered the details of your trip to Vegas, not sure if that’s a good thing or not. *wink* I hope the photos are cool! :)

29. Michael C - March 27, 2008

I missed a few posts or i could have suggested a few places for you to visit in the big LV. Glad you had a great trip and seriously, you can just get a post card of the fountains ;-)

30. Valerie - March 28, 2008

I lusted after a Republican last weekend. I, however, have a boyfriend. Sigh.

31. tori - March 28, 2008

Sounds like a great trip!

My mom started a collection for each of my kids (I’m talking about the quarters) and I got so overwhelmed that I stopped trying. I’ll check around and see what we have and send you whatever we already have if you want.

32. egan - March 28, 2008

Hold me tight Brandy!

33. Ashley - March 29, 2008

I have been collecting the quarters and I can’t believe this is the last year and the collection will be complete.

I just started a friend from Spain a collection, it is so dorky but so fun!

34. lawyerish - April 13, 2008

I have a bunch of the quarters somewhere (I just moved, but I had a huge bag of change). You’re welcome to any state quarters you don’t have.

35. 2008: The Year of Mandy Moore, Michael Franti & a woman named Mallard « It’s like I’m… mmmagic! - December 30, 2008

[...] Did anyone close to you die? No. Thankfully. 5. What countries did you visit? The United States and Mexico. Both were fantastic, both involved margaritas but only one involved cage [...]
