Posted by brandy in confession of the day, i can't believe i said that, if you're shallow and you know it clap your hands!, the big O.
trackback

After this weekend, here are my new three addictions-

1. silk dresses (hooray for things on sale!)

2. a drinking game called moose

3. Oprah’s Big Give. Honestly. I’m so hooked on this show already. YOU JUST WATCH IT AND FEEL GOOD. It’s like porn you can watch with your family.

A drinking game called moose? I am unaware of this one. Details, if you please! :)

2. tpgoddess0103 - March 3, 2008

I watched Big Give. Love it. It’s the perfect continuing boo hoo fest to follow Extreme Home Makeover. I now refer to Sunday night as the Big Cleanse. You know? Any lingering reasons to cry from the week…they are all coming out if you watch ABC on Sunday nights people!

3. poodlegoose - March 3, 2008

I can’t watch Oprah at this time of the month. It’s waterworks every single time. Just can’t handle all the emotion.

And I agree about dresses! Yay for sales :)

4. tiff - March 3, 2008

If I watch the big give, I know I will cry.
Silk dresses remind me of summer. I hope it comes!

5. tiff - March 3, 2008

If I watch the big give, I know I will cry.
Silk dresses remind me of summer. I hope it comes!

6. Dutchess of Kickball - March 3, 2008

What is this Moose game? I’m intrigued.

7. littlespoon - March 3, 2008

How do you play this Moose you speak of?

8. Nilsa S. - March 3, 2008

My fiance and I watched Extreme Home Makeover and The Big Give. And let me just say if I didn’t get all my crying out over those two shows, well, I must be an endless well of tears. Every time I thought I was controlling myself, they’d move onto the next story and the next round of tears. Oh my! Will I be watching it next week? You bettcha!

9. Semichrmd - March 3, 2008

Do tell about this moose game, sounds hmmm interesting.

As for the Big Give – love it. I love Oprah, almost as much as I love Nate Berkus. He is so dreamy, I mean he gorgeous & knows how to decorate?? Score.

10. Jamie - March 3, 2008

I also need to know of this Moose you speak of.

Spill it, Brandy!

11. anne - March 3, 2008

Hey love thanks for the holiday card!!! it was adorable

12. Paige Jennifer - March 3, 2008

I used to adore Oprah. Her you-go-girl enthusiasm and her willingness to be the beacon of hope for so many Americans. But I’m officially tired of her. She’s sorta morphed into a hybrid of the excitable Tom Cruise and the blabbing Rachel Ray. I can’t even watch a Big Give promo ad without pressing mute on my remote.

I know, I know – I’m a terrible person for saying this.

13. Evans - March 3, 2008

I guess I made it through the weekend with no new vices, still hanging on to the ones I already have…and I agree with Paige regarding Oprah…

14. finn644 - March 3, 2008

I’m sorry to have to disagree with you love, but to me The Big Give represents all that is WRONG with the attitude towards the “giving” that Oprah promotes

I watched it out of morbid curiosity last night and to me it was more about the “yeah me” factor as opposed to the “help others”

15. Clearlykels - March 3, 2008

Oh silk dresses, I just bought some Assets from Target, and so I’d actually be willing to wear silk dresses right now, even with that winter 5 lbs I’ve accrued.

16. Jess - March 3, 2008

God I love silk dresses. Also the description of porn you can watch with your family is awesome.

17. nicoleantoinette - March 3, 2008

For some reason I don’t really look good in silky things. Maybe I should be shopping where you’re shopping? Hmmm.

18. CableGirl - March 3, 2008

description of “moose” please. :)

19. pam - March 3, 2008

I want to know about this drinking game too!

I watched teh Big Give and liked it but it feels weird that a game has been made out of giving. Although, I don’t think they know they are getting money for winning do they?

20. brookem - March 3, 2008

I watched The Big Give too- total tear jerker, eh? And hmm, I bet you look all sorts of sassy in silk. But me? The look hasn’t ever really done anything for me. I own a couple silk camis which I love, but beyond that, I don’t think the look does anything good for me.

Oh, and I remember when your friend posted on how to play MOOSE when I asked her once. I never got around to playing it, but I seriously need to revisit that post.

21. eyeingtenure - March 3, 2008

Robert’s Rules of Order Edition Comment:

It has been moved and seconded that you write a blog post describing the rules of Moose. Should we refer this matter to a committee or go straight to a vote? Is there any discussion?

Seeing none, all in favor?

All opposed?

It seems to be a 0-0 tie, so I’ll cast the tie-breaking vote in favor of the motion. So resolved that Brandy describe how to play Moose in a forthcoming blog post.

22. Jacinta - March 3, 2008

And due to popular demand, I am expecting the next post to be all about the Moose… Share the addiction with us please… I’ve been after a new one for a while now!

23. qu33nbee - March 3, 2008

I am now in the process of looking up Moose. If all things are successful, I might be coming back to you offering you silk and precious metals. We’ll see though.

24. Kiera - March 3, 2008

I’ve never of heard of a drinking game called Moose. Hmmmm…*googles*

I wonder what I’d look in a sillk dress……

25. Maggie - March 3, 2008

Ack! I missed the first Big Give show! And now you say it was awesome…drat!

26. Bre - March 3, 2008

I feel like we’re going to need an entire blog post devoted to “Moose”

27. Still Searching - March 3, 2008

Lol! totally agree with the ‘thank god for things on sale’!! And I saw clippings of the new Oprah show but never got around to watching it, I guess I will now!

28. Princess Consuela - March 3, 2008

i too am unaware of this “moose” drinking game. how to play instructions please!

29. Cheryl - March 3, 2008

siky dresses and family porn? What a weekend!

30. Julie Q - March 3, 2008

please explain this new drinking game!? :)

31. appletini - March 3, 2008

Silk dresses DO feel like heaven :)

32. katelin - March 3, 2008

I think I’ve actually heard of the moose game, haha. Sounds like a fabulous combo of things.

33. tori - March 4, 2008

I am so sad I missed the Oprah thing. I was really looking forward to it! I mean I’ll catch up and all, but it isn’t the same as watching the first time!

34. cdp - March 4, 2008

A drinking game called moose.

Moose, you say?

35. Dustin - March 4, 2008

This moose thing sounds interesting, I might have to query the urban dictionary.

As for addictions, I won’t even try and judge you.

36. Pants - March 4, 2008

My newest addiction is slacking…though technically, I’m an old pro.

37. Froggy - March 4, 2008

This is the second post in a row where you’ve mentioned “Moose”… time to explain how it works!!

38. k - March 4, 2008

i know a drinking game called moose – could it be one in the same? hmmmm…

39. brandy - March 4, 2008

geekhiker/Dutchess of kickball/littlespoon/Jamie/CableGirl/Jacinta/Princess Consuela/Julie Q- directions coming to you soon!

tpgoddess0103- Oh man, I know! I said the same thing too. It actually made me cry harder than extreme homemakeover. And that’s saying something.

Poodlegoose- It’s so intense isn’t??

Tiff- Watch it anyway. Really. I cried, but not the ugly gross cry I have when I watch Bridges of Madison County. This was definitely a nicer cry. And it made me want to hug people.

Nilsa- I know!! The one about the husband who died… how could you NOT cry??

Semicharmed- Nate Berkus? Yep. I do love him. I think God spent a little more time on that one.

Anne- Expect a St. Patricks Day one in November.

Paige Jennifer- See, that’s the beauty of the show- Oprah isn’t on it. Okay, she was, for like 2 minutes, but I swear- after that it was all Nate all the time. Oprah drives me nuts too- so if you are a horrible person I am too.

Evans- But this would be your kind of show. There’s plenty of people to mock!

Finn- But here’s the thing. We live in a society that celebrates individual success at any gain. A show like this has found a way to reach people through a medium that hasn’t been used before. I definitely dig it. And I thought some of the people on the show were definitely ‘yeah me’- but for the most part I thought they were sincere.

Clearlykels- Yep, silk dresses are going to be a great addition to the wardrobe!!

Jess- It really is the only way I can describe it. I’m sure my family would be revolted knowing that I said that.

Nicole- I think the trick is the right fit. I definitely own some silk stuff that makes me look weird, but this dress, nips and tucks and flows in all the perfect ways.

Pam- Nope, that’s what I like about it. The people who signed up for the show have no idea they are getting a prize. They are on it because they wanted to just help other people, to see how much they could help. That definitely makes me enjoy it more I think.

Brookem- That’s who I was playing it with! She deleted her blog (I was sad) but I think I need to repost for her…

eyeingtenure- See, now I HAVE to write a post about it with a comment like this!

qu33nbee- I’m curious if you found it out in the big wide world of internet…

Kiera- If it’s the right dress- fantastic!

Maggie- I bet you could watch it online…

Bre- I’m starting to feel that way too…

Still Searching- Do it! I’m curious to know if more people liked it, or if more people feel similar to finn.

Cheryl- I think you just gave me the title of my autiobiography.

appletini- Don’t they??

Katelin- I love that someone else knows what I’m talking about

Tori- I know what you mean. But try and find it anyway, it’s fantastic!!

cdp- Yes. Moose.

Dustin- Thank you. I need some non-judgemental people in my life right now.

Pants- Me too. We should write a book together on slacking. People can read it when they are supposed to be doing other work.

Froggy- I know!!

k- Maybe?

Explain Moose.
