More Me. In a nutshell. December 2, 2007

Posted by brandy in Jon Stewart, a possible regret, books, shoes, tequila consequences, the world according to me, wasting time.
trackback

The trilogy I’ve titled ‘everything you didn’t realize you needed to know about me’ ends with this one. The first part is here and the second part is here. The original came from Brookem and is found here.

I Never…
push snooze, order a plain Coke (I’ve never had one without some sort of alcohol mixed in it…), watch CNN without getting overly panicked, pass up a shoe sale, do not know where north is (it’s this weird thing, I ALWAYS know where north is. It’s like my body is a finely tuned compass. Wow. That’s like a title for a new love song I think. John Mayer should be expecting my call), leave the house without perfume, had a Big Mac/Quarter Pounder/anything from McDonalds other than chicken nuggets and fries, lie with an sort of skill (see previous post), boo Simon on American Idol (I usually agree with him), get tired of Jon Stewart.

I Rarely… eat red meat (I honestly can’t remember the last time I had it, which isn’t something my doctor wants to hear), go to Wal-mart without buying half the store, understand the point of most reality television, get what I order when I’m at Starbucks (all I want is no whipped cream on the hot chocolate. That’s all. I’m not someone with a 14 syllable drink order, yet it’s always wrong. I always get whipped cream. Le sigh.), watch “The Hills” without yelling at Spencer, correctly spell ‘definitely’ without the help of my lovely spell check function.

I Cry… during those sappy Saturn car commercials, when I just don’t understand, when I re-read “Little Women” (Beth? Hello? Does it GET any sadder than that?!) , during EVERY EPISODE OF EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER (which is why I no longer watch. It’s just too emotionally taxing), anytime I watch Babe/Bambi/Dumbo (or any movie that features a cute animal with any sort of mom-issues), when I listen to Eric Clapton and when I’m overtired.

I Am Not Always… so loquacious. Sometimes I like to see how long I can go without speaking.

I Lose… mittens, dignity when I drink tequila, my keys with a regularity that’s almost comforting, the memories I thought I wanted to keep, any inhibition when there’s a bet involved, respect for anyone who doesn’t vote yet complains about government, my voice when at piano bars and quarters I wanted to keep.

I’m Confused… as to how I know all the words to Celine Dion’s new song when I didn’t buy the CD.

I Miss… being 8 years old, summer nights, attending school, getting excited over a guy, it all being easier, people I shouldn’t, people I should, life before student loans when my biggest expense was jeans, and new episodes of Full House.

I Need… oxygen, cute shoes and a book to read. And to watch The West Wing regularly to get a Josh fix. Honestly, I’m not sure if I’ve clearly hammered home just how much I love him. He makes like, my TOP 5. OF ALL TIME. Not Bradley Whitford, just Josh Lyman. Because I like to love fictional men, it fits with my unhealthy dating habits.

I Should… Probably stop talking about Josh Lyman. And tell you that I put up a new book review at Book Me In!

1. Airam - December 2, 2007

I love how “cute shoes” and “a book to read” were followed by oxygen. Screw food and water!

:)

2. Bre - December 2, 2007

I love this post – a lot… so much in fact that I may steal it from you (and Brookem!) in the near future! :)

Also? Spencer? He’s awful – and so is his wretch of a sister! Ugh!

3. brandy - December 2, 2007

Airam- This is where I get all Zsa Zsa Gabor on you and say that books and cute shoes ARE my food and water dahling.

Bre- Is it weird that I take stealing as the ultimate compliment? And I do remember a time when I pretty much stole everything you wrote so steal away Bre, steal away! And Spencer’s sister? Yeah. I hate her with every part of my soul. Who goes up to a stranger and pulls that kind of shit?? Oy.

4. Ally - December 2, 2007

Great post. And what’s up with the fifth season of West Wing? I just started it, and I WANT SAM SEABORNE BACK NOW.

And I think I’d be a little concerned about knowing the words to Celine’s song…but maybe it’s because they are all about love and sound similar. Happy Sunday!

5. brandy - December 2, 2007

Ally- The Sam withdrawls are painful and they never really end. He comes back for a bit in the last season but it’s not the same. As for Celine… I’m blaming the fact that every store I go into has it playing. It’s like, I’ve learned the words through some sort of musical osmosis.

6. Hope - December 2, 2007

Ooo, I might steal this post too. And never stop talking about Josh. I’m just happy to know that someone out there shares my love for him. I transferred my Josh feelings over to Danny last year on Studio 60. But quickly changed my mind. Josh is way sexier. :)

7. nicoleantoinette - December 2, 2007

I don’t think I need to reiterate my feelings re: Josh and/or The West Wing. This post makes me happy. I’m considering it a meme and tagging myself for some “I have lots of time and nothing to do” day in the future.

8. Shannon - December 2, 2007

I think I may be stealing this, good idea.
Also, I always have to concentrate really hard to spell definitely correctly.
I think it looks better spelled “definately”.

9. libby - December 2, 2007

love the format of this post! i too may be stealing this one!

10. brookem - December 2, 2007

Good job wrapping up this little diddy Brandylu. I liked this line about what you lose: “the memories I thought I wanted to keep”– that happens to me (a lot) too.
Look at my old site. I just got nostalgic for the sidebar I had going on there where I could post pictures of shoes! and handbags! and accessories!

11. Rosanna - December 2, 2007

As if Eric Clapton isn’t the most amazing singer ever. Whenever I hear those strains of ‘Would you know my name, if you saw me in heaven…’ I tear up.

12. Michelle - December 2, 2007

i would give anything for a new episode of Full House… damn i loved that show.

13. Princess of the Universe - December 2, 2007

I can’t watch Ghost Whisperer anymore cause I always cry when they go into the light. At least your crying show is reality! :P

14. Carrie - December 2, 2007

Sigh: I can realte to SO much that you listed… SO much.

15. Michael C - December 2, 2007

And NOW I feel like I finally know ya. I miss Full House so much that I would donate my twins to play Michelle Tanner. Of course I’d want money for it, but I still think it shows how much I want a new episode…

16. Clearlykels - December 3, 2007

Seriously, I miss being able to sleep whenever I wanted in college, Slumber parties, Being able to make it through something sentimental without crying, babysitting, waking up in a full house with all of my siblings and dad– so many things. Great post!

17. finn644 - December 3, 2007

and I want Jed Bartlett to be president of the WORLD with me as his trusty assistant, so I think that your dating patterns and my political aspirations are in synch, yes?

18. brandy - December 3, 2007

Hope- See, I thought about trying to transfer over, but I’m scared. I’m scared that by transfering the Josh love into a new character, I will lose some of the love. I like it concentrated on one person. This is also why I have not yet myself get into “Brothers and Sisters’. My love for Sam Seaborn runs deep and I’m not sure I want to give any of it to his new character.

Nicole- I thought you would be pro-more Josh talk. In fact, I thought of you when I wrote that because I knew you would be one person to disagree. You can never have too much Josh talk.

Shannon- That’s what I think too!! And then when the angry red line shows up to tell me I’m wrong, I sit there and have to sound it out. I think I need to just put up a post it near my computer with the correct spelling.

libby- Steal away!!

brookem- That’s funny that you said that! I was thinking of that too when I went searching for the link. Ahh those were the days, weren’t they?? Remember when we were both on blogger? And now look at us. We have come so far.

Rosanna- Yep. Gets me everytime. I always think that if I was an actor and had to create tears for a pivotal scene, I could do it just by listening to that song. Or imagining the return of hypercolor t-shirts.

Michelle- I know. And I mean, it’s not even like they could ever do a reunion. Uncle Jesse is busy with E.R and Stephanie was addicted to crystal meth… nothing will ever be the same.

POTU- I never got on board with Ghost Whisper, it sort of scared me. But when I flick through it while channel surfing, I’m always amazed at how perfect Jen Hewitt looks when she’s sleeping. No raggedy pj’s for her!

Carrie- You love Full House too? ;)

MC- I understand this. I always wanted to be DJ. I had the same bangs as her, PLUS she had a window seat in her room.

Clearlykels- Oh lovely, I get SO many of these. Especially the ’sleep whenever I want in college’. You know, I miss that about school.

finn644- You know how I feel about Jed. And yes, I do agree that we are almost always on the same page with our political/dating aspirations. I like that about us!

19. DG - December 3, 2007

what an adorable post! I’ll have to copy this sometime. I NEVER watch the Hills without yelling at Spencer too! Speaking of, new episode tonight!!

20. Princess Pointful - December 3, 2007

So now I’m craving McD’s fries and a rum & coke.
Neither of which are a good idea right now!

21. mcgee - December 3, 2007

this is great…i especially loved: “watch “The Hills” without yelling at Spencer” because dude. SERIOUSLY.

22. armalicious - December 3, 2007

Whoa! I thought I already commented on this. Apparently I am wrong. Anyway:

On a lot of these? ME TOO!!! No, really. I really do identify with a lot of these and it’s awesome. Except what is it with people using really big words today? Loquacious? I’ve had to use dictionary.com twice today now! Earlier my friend called me an autodidact…I didn’t know if I should say thanks or practice some of my tae kwon do on her ass. I have a pretty good vocabulary, but apparently not that good.

23. B - December 3, 2007

great post Brandy!

24. brookem - December 3, 2007

hmm. poutine. thanks for the definition. haha, i think it might not be bad. heavy, but good. with beer, especially.

im especially nervous about tonight’s hills too. i dont even know why.

25. Sarah - December 3, 2007

I never know where North is. I’m like the world’s worst “navigator,” yet always end up in the role…it drives certain people in my life to the brink of insanity. What does that mean for you? Why that everyone in your life should just bow down and thank you, that’s what.

Ditton on missing being 8. When I think back to childhood, it’s 8 that I want back..why is that the magical year?

26. egan - December 3, 2007

I will take your whipped cream. I add whip to almost all of my drink orders. I know those Saturn car ads of which you speak. They are quite good. Ha, I hear you on the Extreme Home Makeover crying fits. It’s almost too much for a human to take. I like to pretend nobody cries, but that’s just me.

27. brandy - December 3, 2007

DG- And then season finale next week. I’m a little sad it’s going to be over so soon. With the writer strike why can’t they keep it going? Wow. I can’t believe I just said that.

PP- I can think of two times in my life when I found myself consuming rum and coke WITH McDonalds fries. Neither night ended well…

mcgee- Yep. Spencer is pretty likely to cause rage with me anytime he speaks…

armalicious- I only like using big words sound nice. Loquacious is just one of my favourite words to say, it sounds sort of sexy, doesn’t it? As for autodidact- I know it. But only because my grandpa called me that after I tried to sell him some Babysitter Club books. (Speaking of- new post on that site. I laughed so hard…)

B- Thanks!

brookem- heavy… yes. I think that describes poutine very well.

Sarah- I think 8 is a good year because you a) can remember what’s going on unlike when you are 5 and most of the world is a blur b) you actually do fun stuff when you are 8 and c) it’s an age where you are cute, so other people are more likely to remember how awesome you were at that age and pump your brain with all the good time stories that happened around that time. Also, I will see if people will start bowing down to me. I doubt they will (I’ve asked before), but I will try.

egan- Good to know. I will start saving the whipped cream tomorrow and ship it to you for Christmas

28. Cheryl - December 3, 2007

You gotta make the Starbucks people remake your drink. They will. It’s company policy. I bawl at EMHE, and Hallmark commercials sometimes. I’m a sap. The trick that helped me with definitely is remembering it has the word “finite” in it. Then when I was spelling it i’d say “de-fine-ite-ly.” But in addition to being a sap, I’m a dork, so maybe not.

29. Ruby - December 3, 2007

This is so fun, I have to steal it from you and brookem…tee hee. I can’t believe that you’ve never had a plain Coke, that’s so funny that its awesome! I can’t spell definitely either anymore.

30. brandy - December 3, 2007

Cheryl- I hate sending stuff back. Unless it’s a MUST( like they put my chicken on a bun or something), I will complain but keep it. “Finite” is definitely going to help me remember how to spell.Ooooo it already did!!!

Ruby- Yep, it’s true. I’ve never just ordered a coke. Or a pepsi. Or anything other than a rootbeer or a sprite. Oooh or an orange soda. I love orange soda.

31. egan - December 3, 2007

Awesome, I will be waiting for it. Hey, you really don’t hit snooze? Can you write a book about you don’t hit the snooze button? It would be a bestseller for reals.

32. appletini - December 4, 2007

Snooze and I are dear friends :)

33. alyndabear - December 4, 2007

You had me with the John Mayer comment. Oh, how I love your blog!

34. Diane Mandy - December 4, 2007

I especially relate to those missing mittens. I brought 3 new pairs with me to Germany. It’s day 2 and I’ve already lost one pair!

Gret post as always!

35. pam - December 4, 2007

John Mayer song!!! lol! Why is it that Extreme Home makeover pulls out every emotion in you?! I had to stop watching it because I was crying every Sunday night. I watched teh 100th episode recently thinking I had beat the cry but..no.

36. Semichrmd - December 4, 2007

I can totally relate to the crying bits. Do you also sit in Hallmark and tear as you are picking out greeting cards? I do. Sad I know. And year 8? So great, full house, saved by the bell, and well who can forget NKOTB. Those were the days.

37. brandy - December 4, 2007

egan- I put my alarm clock on the other side of the room so I HAVE to get up to shut it off. And although I’m not a morning person, once I’m up, I’m up. Thus, pushing snooze isn’t really that appealing…

appletini- Snooze and I were never close, but I’m glad you guys are tight.

alyndabear- thanks! Doesn’t that sound like it could be a new JM song though??

Diane Mandy- Ahh mittens. I think it’s some rule that you have to lose the match to your favourite pair at least ONCE a year.

pam- Extreme Home makeover just kills me. Kills me. By the time I’m done watching it someone has to shovel the heaping mess that is me back onto the couch because I’m weeping on the floor.

Semichrmd- Oh hallmark cards make me cry too. And NKOTB! How did I forget about those guys?! They were a pivotal part of my youth. Pivotal!

38. Michael C - December 4, 2007

And somehow, magically, the tanners were friends with the Beach Boys. I could hang with them, they’d love me. I just fear that my ‘thing’ for Lori Laughlin might make it all a little awkward.

39. Princess Extraoridinaire - December 4, 2007

I loved this meme – it is unique and fun :) By the way – I am a crier at all things sentimental and corny – especially at embarassing moments!

40. egan - December 4, 2007

Got it, thanks for the tip. Is there a trap door in your room too?

41. Ally - December 4, 2007

Brandy!! The Starbucks guy this morning looked like Josh Lyman, and I got so excited and wanted you to meet him….I asked him if he got the Josh Lyman comment a lot, and he started talking about his wife…..so anyway, I’ve not found your potential husband (and Lyman fix) quite yet, but just now that I’m working on it down here in Nashville.

42. justrun - December 4, 2007

“Dignity when I drink tequila.” I think there should be a club for that. :)

43. dustin - December 4, 2007

Growing tired of John Stewart is like growing tired of democracy.*

*The real kind, not the stuff we “gifted” to Iraq. :)

44. tori - December 4, 2007

That spelling the word definitely is my thing too. I have such trouble with that one word!

I love this list!

45. brandy - December 4, 2007

PE- Yep, me too!! And I like this survey too. Egan is probably going to steal it. He’s a bit of a meme whore that one.

egan- No. But I also tell myself if I’m in a situation that requires me getting up before 7am, I deserve Starbucks. (Ohhh I got the whipped cream again today. Man. that makes me angry)

Ally- Ally, you made my day with this. I love knowing that there are feelers out all over, people trying to find me a Lyman fix. Really, I loved this!!

justrun- I think it’s called AA. Just kidding. There SHOULD be a club for us tequila drinkers. Though, my love of gin is pretty dangerous too…

dustin- Have I ever told you that I like you? Because I do.

Tori- Ahh. I feel better knowing it tricks other people up too. I spell it wrong all the time. And then, when I don’t have a spell check handy, I second guess myself and don’t write it and instead use ‘totally’. Which makes me always sound like a surfer.

46. cdp - December 4, 2007

I absolutely can NOT watch Extreme Home Makeover without crying. It is a physical impossibility.

I also don’t leave the house without perfume and I’m totally fine with it if you don’t want to stop talking about Josh Lyman!

47. geekhiker - December 5, 2007

So much here to comment upon. You are truly a fascinating woman.

But I will say this: I miss being 8 years old too.

48. tori - December 5, 2007

I LOVE that you change what you write based on spelling. I do that too! I write things that are so different from what I would actually say sometimes because I can’t figure out how to spell it correctly!

49. Internet Stalking Club « Skrinkering Hearts - June 27, 2008

[...] I’m sure I’m not pronouncing correctly.  And one day Brandy (another stalk-ee of mine) did a meme that she internet-borrowed from a blog previously unknown to me: Skrinkering Hearts @ [...]

50. Jamie - July 2, 2008

I am with you on the Extreme Home Makeover thing. I’m constantly depressed on Sunday nights. That show is too much!!! I also miss days when jeans were the most expensive thing on the list! Psh! Hello student loans, life as I know it is now over! :)
