Confession of the Day #543 October 16, 2007

Posted by brandy in confession of the day, music, secrets, what the hell.
trackback

After much deliberating, I’m just going to come clean.

I actually like Britney’s “Gimme More” song.

And not only do I like it, when I hear it on the radio- I dance to it like I’m famous.

Deal with it universe.

1. egan - October 16, 2007

You sound like me when Baby Baby came out in 2000. I must see your dance moves.

2. armalicious - October 16, 2007

I still respect you, Brandy. Because you make me laugh hysterically. I’m glad that you confessed this. I like Mambo #5.

3. brandy - October 16, 2007

egan- My dance moves? I think I must see YOUR dance moves. It can be a Britney dance off- 2000 vs. 2007. Good vs. Evil. You get the idea.

4. brandy - October 16, 2007

armalicious- See?! Didn’t it feel good to share that. We need to do this more often armalicious. Perhaps over bloomin’ onions.

5. armalicious - October 16, 2007

Hmmm…can I say that I fully support the idea of a Brandy vs. Egan dance off?

I further fully support the idea of confessions over Bloomin’ onions. Greasy onion-ey goodness always gets people to talking.

6. Princess Pointful - October 16, 2007

As long as you dance better than she does to it.

I’m just sayin’.

7. brookem - October 16, 2007

i like the song too. and three weeks ago i met a woman at the post office who was named “gimme.”
yup, i cant make this crap up.

8. CableGirl - October 16, 2007

hahaha… guilty secrets!

9. egan - October 16, 2007

I support the dance off idea. Name the place.

Brookem - was this woman at the post office a caboose baby?

10. Accidentally Me - October 16, 2007

This dance off is the best idea ever! Someone please videotape this and post for all to see and vote!!!

11. sizzlesays - October 16, 2007

you’re so bad ass!

12. brandy - October 16, 2007

Arm- I thought you would like the dance off, and anything that involves The Outback. If we do go though, perhaps we should get Egan to send out another evite?

Princess Pointful- Ack! I think it would be impossible NOT to dance better than her in that video. I don’t know if you can even call that dancing. I mean, don’t get me wrong- back in the day, I think she was a pretty fair dancer, but now? She looks like she’s wandering around the stripper pole, drunk and looking for a contact lens.

brookem- Gimme? Dear lord. I wonder if that was a name she chose later in life, or if her parents bestowed her with that name. True fact, I used to think the name Spencer was cute. Now I just think of the douchebag who says things like “you are rolling with my enemy. That makes you my enemy”.

CableGirl- Yep, that’s one of them. I also sleep in until 11 on the weekend and always say I slept only until 10. Somehow that extra hour makes all the difference between ’sleeping late’ and being ‘an unreasonable sloth’.

egan- My vote is the outback.

AM- Dance off fever is spreading! Egan should be worried.

Sizzle- Sometimes I even dance while wearing my favourite sweater vest. Things get really out of control then. :)

13. Jenni - October 16, 2007

Me too!!!

I’m glad I’m not alone! It just makes me wanna dance! :)

14. armalicious - October 16, 2007

It’s a Dance off!
This is how I kind of envision it going down:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpDKL_yVZ0c

I can totally see Brandy mouthing off to Egan, “Age before beauty, goat cheese.”

It’s that damned Brandy…she’s so hot right now.

Do you realize how much I could continue quoting Zoolander right now?

15. brandy - October 16, 2007

Jenni- I’m glad we are banding together on this issue!

armalicious- Okay you make me laugh, so hard. I had completely forgotten about that dance off- so funny. And yes, I too can picture me saying something like that to Egan. And then destroying him on the catwalk.

16. ~t~ - October 16, 2007

Love the dance off, let me know the time and place.

17. Teri - October 16, 2007

Um….I thought (mistakenly) that you were cool. Now, I’m not so sure. However, given that I have Fergie currently playing on my iPod, I’m not sure I can cast judgement. (and you still make me laugh)

18. jasmine - October 16, 2007

Sweet! Now we can all confess… I love it too !

19. brookem - October 16, 2007

ha, i am not sure of “gimme’s” situation. she was a nasty lady though, and really all very unhelpful to my mailing back of the betty rubble costume. but that’s a story for another day. i dont like the name spencer now either, which is really too bad. i like the idea of the dance off being at the outback. that way i can sit at the bar and watch; and they make a good margarita there you know.

20. Bre - October 16, 2007

Don’t tell - but I rock out to it too!

21. egan - October 16, 2007

I’m thinking we do a virtual dance off. I can use my webcam and shake my moneymaker. I might be in full drag, but I think that would make it all the more enjoyable. I might even be tempted to say something like “leave Britney alone”, but that’s a story for another day. So yeah, bring it Brandy!! The Outback loves me. I move my little tush on the catwalk.

22. clearlykels - October 16, 2007

Ummm- I’m not admitting this out loud, but I would def. be part of a dance off. Sign me up

23. Evans - October 16, 2007

I think she’s a great mom, too.
Wait, what the Brit issue of the day?
I wish she sang it with a British accent- that would rock, like totally…otherwise, I’m still languishing in the “Lucky” days…cause she’s a star! And how prophetic was that song? Could she really be a “future seeing” “Hero” disguised as a hot mess?

24. Evans - October 16, 2007

I agree, she is a great parent.

Wait, what was the Britney question of the day? Wouldn’t it be like most excellent if she sang with a British accent? That would like rule the airwaves…until then, I’m languishing back in the “Lucky” days..she’s a star! Whoa, like thinking about those lyrics and the “Mother of the year” she is today, it makes me wonder if she’s a “future seer”…could she be a Hero with the powers of prophecy?…wouldn’t explain those 2 marriages, would it?

25. Airam - October 16, 2007

ME TOO!!!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. She may be fucked up with her personal life but when it comes to music and the biz … she knows what she’s doing.

26. Cheryl - October 16, 2007

Confession #544–me too.

27. Diane Mandy - October 16, 2007

Are you tryng to scare new readers off? Just wondering… :-)

28. Peter - October 16, 2007

I’ve never heard it.

I am totally okay with that.

29. brandy - October 16, 2007

~t~- I knew you would be appreciating this!

Teri- You were mistaken. I’ve never once claimed cool status. In fact, if you read the archives I often refer to myself as a dork because there is a less pressure. :)

Jasmine- Dear lord, there are a lot of us in the secret Gimme More fan club! Fantastic.

brookem- Betty Rubble costume? Ahh I love Halloween. Wait, it was for Halloween right?

Bre- Your secret is safe with me!!

egan- Wear drag Egan. I foresee you getting your leg caught in yoru boa when you do a high kick. Me? I’m going to go in jeans and a t-shirt. I just watched Footloose again baby. Be prepared.

clearlykels- I love that more people want to be in the dance off. See, some bloggers bond over sharing recipes, here we bond over Britney. And dance-offs inspired by Zoolander. Sweet.

Evans- I love that you quote songs on here that I’m pretty sure no one else remembers. First there was the Hillary Duff shout-out a few weeks ago, and now a little Lucky. Man. That is the saddest song ever now that I think about it. That song is almost as sad as her current situation. Almost.

Airam- That makes me excited! Man, besides our Canadian status and teaching experience, our love for Britney will be the bond that I treasure the most.

Cheryl- Ahh, I love that we are altogether on this. Well, except PEter.

Diane Mandy- Ha! Sorry if you are scared, but I have to be honest. Besides, it’s good therapy to share such secrets.

Peter- I won’t try and push Britney on you. That would be wrong- like trying to get you into cocaine. She’s a bad habit, but god love the minx, she does make me want to dance.

30. Michael C - October 16, 2007

I have never heard the song…yet.
And can I just say, damn Yoda, how many posts did you write today? I can’t write one and you are busting out multiples? Kudos…
;-)

31. Michael C - October 16, 2007

By the way, I was just reading Egan’s first comment. How damn old must I be when I was thinking of Amy Grant’s song ‘Baby, baby.’ Ouch! Yes I had dance moves to it, but no they were not better than my Copa Cabana moves.

32. brillig - October 17, 2007

*gasp*

(And by that I mean, “I salute you in your bravery.” Hahaha. Get a vid of that dance-off, okay?)

33. justrun - October 17, 2007

Oh, dear.

(But the dance off should be a GO!) :)

34. AP - October 17, 2007

I must confess- I love it too. It was stuck in my head all day yesterday. and coincidentally- now it is again. thanks :)

35. armalicious - October 17, 2007

I listened to this song yesterday Brandy. I tried to like it. I really did. The beat is ok, but I still couldn’t wait for the song to be over. I’m being a music-snob since I’m a musician and all…I feel badly for being this way. I really do. I mean, I like Rihanna’s Umbrella, so it’s not like I always dislike crappy pop music that’s just cranked out without any thought or care or personal creation. I just have to remember that Britney is a performer, not an artist or musician. She’s no Tori Amos, that’s for sure.

Anyway, it’s all good. You and I can’t like ALL of the same things, right? I suppose that would be kind of boring if that happened. I’m still happy you shared this confession with us.

36. B - October 17, 2007

I still like you LOL that was really something to admit that!

too repetitive for me and she only says 1 line the whole song! we ALL could do that

37. brandy - October 17, 2007

MC- I know! Two posts in one day, dear God- what is wrong with me? As for the song, you are probably better off not hearing it. I’m not kidding. It’s just probably better. As for Amy Grant- that song was classic. She was like… a pure version of Mariah Carey for a while, wasn’t she?

brillig- A salute for my bravery was exactly what I was looking for on this topic. It was a tough choice to go public, but I’m glad I did.

justrun- I love that the dance off is getting so much support. Egan should watch his back.

AP- You’re welcome!

armalicious- lol, No she is not Tori Amos. I don’t think she’s even an Ani. But what can you do? And I’m glad we don’t have to like all the same things- as much as I like fudge, I don’t really like making it. I leave that to the experts- like you!!! :)

B- I’m glad we can still be friends. And yes, I do understand why people don’t like it, I have to say the very beginning is my favourite part, and I do only like the remix. Does that make this love any better?

38. egan - October 17, 2007

I might just record myself tonight dancing around our basement. So consider yourself warned. I guess this means I have to download her song though. Ugh.

39. brandy - October 17, 2007

egan- If you post a video of you dancing around in your basement tonight to Britney Spears, I will eat my hat.

40. Princess Extraoridinaire - October 19, 2007

I give……it’s a hot somg……

41. Tervah - October 22, 2007

You better ready the hat.

42. egan - October 22, 2007

Uh yeah, the last comment was me. Yikes.

43. brandy - October 22, 2007

PE-um.. … what?

harvet/egan- You are so transparent.
