Here’s some numbers to entertain you while I consider a lobotomy:
Number of trips to a hospital in the last week: 2 (* only one visit was for me, the other was for moral support- because I’m nice like that)
Number of hours spent in a hospital in the last week: 13
Number of hours spent in a hospital in a room with a thin curtain separating me from a drunk man who thought it the height of hilarity to go to the bathroom in his pants: 7
Number of dollars spent in the hospital gift shop, attempting to rid my nostrils of the horrific smell that the man beside me produced: $56
Number of bare asses I saw, the result of people who are too drunk (and yes, in all these cases the person was drunk) to tie their gown properly: 6
Number of nurses on the floor: 12
Number of cute male nurses who looked a lot like Milo, my new not-so-secret love: 1
Number of cute male nurses who looked a lot like Milo, my new not-so-secret love who were married: 1
Number of Good Housekeeping magazines from the early 1990’s I pretended to read while attempting to memorize every detail of the Milo look-a-like nurse: too many to count, but I’m guessing at least 60. Not only can I tell you exactly the shade of green this nurse’s eyes are, I can tell you how to make a kick ass casserole and a spring butterfly craft using only Popsicle sticks, tissue paper and 12 hours of spare time.
Number of jobs I turned down since the thought of them produced an ugly rash on my body (hello SATC reference, brookem- I know you understand) and resulted in full fledged panic attacks that left me on close terms with hospital staff: 1
I am once again, searching for a job. But, I have a stack of magazines bought from the gift shop to keep me entertained while I look.
At least there’s that.
holy good christ! ive been wondering about you lady! what a shit week you had! i hope you’re feeling better, my god! i totally know the carrie reference to satc. i have that issue in dressing rooms a lot. christ.
i dont know why im referencing the lord and god and stuff so much here either. what the eff.
geez oh pete’s! sounds like you had quite a week! Glad you are out and home, hopefully you are feeling better!!!
What a sucky week! I hope your weekend is much much better!
While it sounds like you had an incredibly crappy week, you write with such humour that I’m giggling. I can’t help myself! I love the Good Housekeeping one. You, my dear, are funny.
I hope everything is OK. I’m glad that you were able to come to a decision about the job. Stressing over it and getting a rashe on your body is not a good thing!! Got to make sure you’re doing what feels right for you. But I think I already told you this, so I won’t repeat myself.
Dammit, and I hope you’re feeling better. I totally left that part out of my first comment. You know I meant to say it, though, right?
Ok, now I’m confused… Why are you looking for a job? Didn’t you just post about how you found one???
BTW, I love Milo aka Peter Petrelli.
holy crap! not even eye candy that looks like your beloved milo can make those experiences good. hope you’re doing better.
How is it that Milo is your “new” not so secret love? Did you not lose your heart to him years ago on the Gilmour Girls?
….Or maybe brooding bad boys are more my thing. But hey - he wrote a book!
As for the job, bah we say to them. Onwards and upwards.
Crapola this is my second attempt at a comment.
I hope that this next week is better for you chica. Good on you for the SATC reference.
huh? I though you got a job and were moving and all that. what happened? guess that means we can be friends again
yikes! def sounds like a rough week…hope you’re feeling better!
I was wondering what happened - you seemed to have removed that one “I found a job!” post.
I hope you’re doing better!
Nevermind, you didn’t remove it, it was just further down than I remembered…
I still hope the weekend is better than your week!
Sorry about your crappy week, although hospital visits are always good fodder for blog posts, if nothing else, right?
Hope you’re feeling better and that the rash you mentioned is gone.
I am glad you declined the position. I want to go to Mexico in April for a week… you should come with. I miss you and I hope that this week is sooo much better. Oh… I have… actually… I should probably just call you or something… actually I will write you another email… or something… hey did they close down the Corral? This is Random.
brookem- Ahh, I knew you would know what I was talking about. Thanks for listening to me rant about the work situation. Expect an email back today, full of lots of hills talk. Because I still can’t get over the fact that a) Spencer hasn’t told his parents and b) Jason is getting married. Fools!
Semicharmed- Thanks!! I do feel better. It’s amazing how one choice can do to your attitude about so many things.
Tori- Thanks lady! I’ve recently joined a knitting club, so expect to be bombared with questions….
armalicious- You make me laugh too, and yes, I did know that you were hoping I felt better without you actually saying it, so don’t worry. Oh, I thought of you the other day. My friend and I have a list of things we must do before we die. The first thing that came up? Visit the harry potter amusement park. Can’t wait for that thing to open!
CableGirl- Yep, I did get a job. And after I said I would take it, I broke out into a horrible rash, and got repeated panic attacks. So, now I don’t have the job and feel a lot better.
sizzle- Thank you! As for Milo, yes, he is the antidote to any sickness a girl could have I think.
HC- Can I tell you something without you hating me forever?? I was never attached to the gilmore girls. I think I may have watched two episdoes in my entire life. Can we still be friends?
Airam- Thanks!! I’m going to email you today, I have some teaching questions for you….
the patient- A few panic attacks and a rash due to stress overload is what happened dude.
Michelle- Thanks lady! Fingers crossed that it is.
Princess of the Universe- Yeah… I’m not one to remove posts, even the mortifying “looky, looky, I’m drunk!” ones, so never think they are gone.
wolf- Yes, there is always good material coming out of a hospital stay. Man. I like how you look on the bright side of things.
~t~:Ohh Mexico!! Who are you going with? what’s the exact dates? I think I want to come! As for the Corral, I think it’s closed. I know. I’m sad too.
maybe you could buy one of them fancy new celebrity-scents to mask the bad man smell!
Milo is groovy….as Hippy pointed out, he’s been around wreckin’ havoc since he messed with Rory in Stars Hollow!
That does not sound like a fun week, sorry. Call me stupignorant, but I thought you just took a job. Plus I checked and I’m pretty sure I didn’t miss a post…
Oh! I so love Milo - and it comes directly form Gilmore Girls… Sorry to hear about your terrible week! I had one of those DAYS, but having one of those WEEKS. I would’ve also gotten close to housewifish thoughts of knitting, crafts and casserols!
Oh dear - I hope you are doing well. If the decision didn’t feel right, which it clearly didn’t, then go with that, don’t ignore it. We know ourselves and our limitations.
Spending time in a hospital used to be a bad association for me. Thankfully the birth of Anna turned that around for me. I hope your hospital stay wasn’t so bad. I thought you were going to say bare asses you saw at the hospital, now there’s a sight.
I get the feeling you like this Milo kid.
Ooooh, what a week! Why did the job give you a rash like Carrie thinking she could actually marry Aidan? Was it just looks good on paper but not as strangely attractive though bad for you as Big?
And you need to go out and buy the Heroes Season 1 DVD. It will break your West Wing rut (and though Rob Lowe IS hot, you may consider a show that is still on the air so you can get a weekly fix!), and allow you to see Milo/Peter Petrelli on a very, very regular basis :).
Too vague!
Sorry the job was rash-inducing…. not exactly what you were looking for
Glad you had the strength to make the right decision, though.
The number of hours it took me to read this: 1/10th.
Evans- Tell me sir, besides knowing the cast of Gilmore Girls and the lyrics to Hlllary Duff, is there any other hidden talents you have? (Perhaps say something manly to counteract all the girly stuff)
MC- Hopefully the email cleared it up…
Katrin- Knitting. Everyone talks about it. I need to start. I feel the urge to make socks.
e.b.- Exactly! I thought you would understand this.
egan- I’m glad that hospitals are better for you, and yes, I can see how Miss Anna could have changed that around for you. As for Milo, we are in love. It’s one of those forever kind of things too I think.
Sarah- Heroes Season 1- done! I love, love, loved it. As for the job,… it was a mixture of things. It was just going to be the wrong fit, not great benefits, and the nagging feeling of going into a job knowing that the people I would be supervising weren’t happy with me having the job (I was told this in the interview…)…
Princess Pointful- Sorry for vague… it’s a mixture of not knowing how to say what I want, and not wanting to say everything I know. As for the rash, you’re right,… I’m looking for a job without a rash.
Aaron- Quick!
