Drug of choice September 24, 2007

Posted by brandy in confession of the day, friends, i am slowly going crazy, i may write about the west wing forever, men, people i like, the world according to me, wasting time.
trackback

A phone call….

Amanda- What are you doing?

brandy- Solving the Middle East crisis while re-organizing my sock drawer- why?

Amanda- Are you watching The West Wing still?

Silence

brandy- And if I was?

Amanda- That’s unhealthy.

brandy- Studies show that drug addicts have an easier time of quitting if they quit gradually, rather than cold turkey. I can’t quit the President cold. I’m weening myself.

Amanda- You are ridiculous. I will call you later.

Later…

Amanda- Hi. Did you make that up? About it being easier to quit drugs slowly?

brandy- Yes, but I think it’s true. I mean, it sounds like it would be true, doesn’t?

Amanda- I’m hanging up now.

1. egan - September 24, 2007

What’s Amanda’s favorite tv show?

2. brandy - September 24, 2007

Eganalicious- (I’m giving a bow to Arm today, thus, everyone is an ‘icious… enjoy) She likes America’s Next Top Model, Lost, Grey’s Anatomy… mainstream tv that appeals to everyone. But she also loves the Office, the British one.

3. egan - September 24, 2007

The Office,.. the British one. I love it. As if the American version isn’t funny. The British one is good and all, but ….

Okay, let’s learn about Amanda today. What’s her sign? Does she enjoy KC as much as you do? What’s the brand of the last pair of shoes she bought? These are the questions I ask of all new women I meet.

4. egan - September 24, 2007

…oh… and can she locate Canada on a world map?

5. brandy - September 24, 2007

eganalicious- She has a twin sister, they were born March 21st (what sign that makes her, I do not know). She does NOT enjoy KC, nor does she enjoy JT. As for shoes, she’s more about comfort than I, so something with the word ‘earth’ in it would be appropriate. Oh, and the other thing is she is amazing at Scrabble. She beats me regularly.

6. brandy - September 24, 2007

eganalicious- She’s from Canada, so I’m hoping so.

7. brookem - September 24, 2007

hey brandylicious, if that’s your drug of choice, then i say OD on it. because why the hell not? your comment about amandalicious’ (ha, try saying that word) brand of shoes having the word “earth” in it made me giggle. and also reminded me of a killer blister i got on my heel this weekend from a certain pair of my favorite shoes. maybe i need to go more earthy. maybe not.

8. egan - September 24, 2007

Brandy – thank you for answering these questions. Okay, I’ve added all her information to my blog notebook. Twin, noted. Likes like walks on the beach, noted. Is sort of crunchy, noted. Prefers mainstream tv, noted. Likes guys with curly hair, noted. Makes Brandy mad because she’s a good Scrabble player, noted. Has some idea how to locate Canada on a map, noted.

Here’s the pivotal question, does she have a blog? This could make or break her. Twins!

9. brandy - September 24, 2007

brookemalicious- Don’t go more earthy in the shoe selection! I’ve seen your red shoes and they are too cute to give up for earthy shoes. Hope you are having a better monday lady.

eganalicious- If everyone likes long walks on the beach, how come you don’t see more people doing it? That is my question. As for blogging, no she does not. She also doesn’t get popcorn at the movies and sometimes listens to music involving ‘chants’. But she thinks of the best halloween costumes and is an excellent work reference.

10. egan - September 24, 2007

I think I might have a crush on Amanda based on all that you’ve shared.

I once appeared on a tv dating show* and said that I despise “long walks on the beach”. I was needless to say, not chosen to date some long legged brunette hottie.

* – a fabrication

11. anne - September 24, 2007

Miss Brandy, maybe you should stick with your day job (!), but I’m pretty sure you ARE supposed to quit cold turkey. Can you see the rehab doctor telling the meth addict that it is okay to slow down his meth intake?!?!? I am thinking cold turkey IS the answer!

12. silverneurotic - September 24, 2007

I’ve had similar conversations.

13. armalicious - September 24, 2007

Is Amanda a blonde or a brunette?

Just wondering…being an Amanda myself and all. Brunette Amandas seem to be fairly similar and…I just realized that you might not be using your friend’s real name and now I’m completely crazy.

Oh, and thanks for adding “licious” after names…too awesome!

14. armalicious - September 24, 2007

And…there is nothing wrong with watching West Wing DVD’s at all. You know what I’ve been doing lately? Watching my Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVD’s. It’s all I’ve really been doing…

15. Michelle - September 24, 2007

tv is addicting. nothing to be ashamed of!! ;)

16. egan - September 24, 2007

Blogging is also addicting, nothing to be ashamed of.

17. sizzlesays - September 24, 2007

i’m pretty sure you gotta quit that stuff cold turkey. ;)

18. brookem - September 24, 2007

my drug is spencer. mwahahaha.

19. brookem - September 24, 2007

ok i think i take that back. he, per se, “himself” isn’t my drug. more his DB antics (i have begun to abbreviate douchebag/douchebox to DB).

i want heidi to myself!

20. brookem - September 24, 2007

oh and thank you for the red shoe compliment. those are one of my faves, absolutely. i will not go earthy in the shoe dept. no way.

21. brookem - September 24, 2007

maybe just earthy in the men department. like bear. from man vs. wild.

okay i need to stop.

22. brandy - September 24, 2007

brookemalicious- I have a friend dating a man named Bear. No joking. He’s also 30 years older than her. But that’s another story for another day.

23. Princess of the Universe - September 24, 2007

1. Armalicious maybe mynew best friend, since I watch my Buffy DVDs ALL the time.
2. Why do you have to quit watching the West Wing exactly?? Did I miss a post somewhere saying that the show is dangerous to your health??

24. justrun - September 24, 2007

I see nothing wrong with a television show addiction. I am such an enabler.

25. appletini - September 24, 2007

Actually….COLD TURKEY is the only way!

26. Airam - September 24, 2007

I say you quit your way. Cold turkey can only lead to bad things. Mainly cold poultry which isn’t good. Turkey can be considered poultry right?

27. Michael C - September 24, 2007

I quit blogging cold Turkey once. I posted the very next day. Not sure if that still counts though.

Can I be MClicious? Then I can learn to rap. Or maybe I’ll just do the folk music scene. The oddity of it might help me get more attention…

28. brandy - September 24, 2007

eganalicious- Ahh, I appreciate a good fabrication to further move a point along. I think my new pick up line might include ‘ I do not like long walks on the beach. I prefer short jaunts through the desert’. People who do not appreciate this, will not be for me.

Annealicious- Well, when you put it that way, quitting seems like the way to go. Damn you Anne. So smart. And you can cook. Is there anything you can’t do lady??

silverneuroticalicious- Is it wrong that I look at your new name for the day and the first word that pops out is ‘erotic’? Anyway, I’m glad you’ve had those conversations too. That’s what brings people together. That, and a common hate on for frostbite.

armalicious- She’s brunette. As for Buffy, I never watched the show, but i’ve heard good things. Perhaps when I’ve thoroughly exhausted myself with the West Wing, I will turn to Buffy.

Michellalicious- I love it when people enable my addiction!! :)

eganalicious- Good. Because I’m already ashamed of so many other things. Like, that time I told my brother he was an alien and that my parents were going to sell him when he turned 12.

sizzlealicious- Ohh your name sounds hot! As for quitting cold turkey… I’m not sure I can. Hence why I liken this show to crack.

brookemalicious- I WANT HEIDI TO MYSELF! Still cracks me up. Ahh, could he possibly look even more insane?

Princess of the Universealicious- Yes, Armalicious is pretty fantastic isn’t she?? As for the West Wing, it actually does need to be tamed. My habit is seriously cutting into all other parts of my life. I think the last time I showered it was still summer.

justrunalicious- I’m an enabler too, so we can always share that. And can I just say that I love that you are down with my way?!

appletinialicious- Well, it appears that you have a strong view on this, but I think quitting cold turkey would lead to tragic results. Like… I would start weeping uncontrollably while hugging my tv. Do we want to chance this??

Airamalicious-I’m glad you agree with me. And I’m not sure if turkey can be considered poultry, but if it can’t, it should be.

MCalicious- of course that can be your name. And I don’t like the idea of you quitting. So don’t try it again, okay?

29. Michael C - September 24, 2007

Ok,fair enough Branalicious. Seriously though, I have been thinking about it.

30. appletini - September 24, 2007

No, no, no…..we don’t want that. Take it SLOW, hun!

31. Princess Pointful - September 25, 2007

Yeah, you are pretty much full of crap on the addictions thing. Plus, it’ll be cold turkey when you reach the end… which can’t be that long, can it?

I am only so cold because I just finished the entire series of Six Feet Under two days ago and am utterly crushed.

32. finn644 - September 25, 2007

cconfused … Amanda says it like being addicted to The West Wing is a bad thing?

how could it be bad? I mean you’ve got Sam and Josh and the President and CJ (how I would KILL for her wardrobe, not to mention the fact that she had MARK HARMON as her personal, um, “bodyguard”) and, well, need I go on??

or maybe I have a slight problem …

33. brookem - September 25, 2007

ha, i just saw your comment about the hills on my blog. you bet your ass i watched it. and i may or may not have been putting off emailing you back until watching that episode last night so that we could discuss it. that’s how i like to roll.

34. brandy - September 25, 2007

MCalicious- That’s not acceptable. I will be emailing you about this.

appletinialicious- Thanks!

Princess Pointfulalicious- Wow. That was a mouthful (that’s what she said). As for the end, I’m one of those girls who can re-watch and re-watch… I still can’t find season 6, so I’ve been re-watching season 4 over and over again, because it’s my favourite.

finnalicious- Exactly lady, exactly. I mean, c’mon. IT’S THE WEST WING.

brookemalicious- Ha! I love that. I think the only person that I really care about on the show is Whitney. And I’m still doing some reflecting on why I really care about anyone on tv.

35. wolf - September 25, 2007

I have never watched an episode of West Wing. Does that make me a bad person?

36. brother#3 - September 25, 2007

Brandy…many people like to walk on beaches, you just don’t see them because Jesus carried them. or they were really short.

Drug of choice…Buffy and (gasp) The Hills…love to hate “speidi” Weapon of choice (que the music)- laughter.

37. Michael C - September 25, 2007

Whatever you decide Yodalicious!

38. brookem - September 26, 2007

mwahaha, brother#3 said speidi. i love it. can we have a support group for hills addiction?

39. Bre - September 26, 2007

Tell her that you can quit whenever you want. you just like doing it.

40. Princess extraordinaire - September 26, 2007

You could start WWA….and try the twelve step thing….

41. brother#3 - September 26, 2007

I find my life is more interesting these days using the sage guiding principle of pondering, “what would Heidi do (to garner more tv time)?” And then do the opposite!

42. CableGirl - September 27, 2007

Actually, cold turkey is better. Harder, but better.

But I’m not one to chastise you about West Wing. I’ve got a long term Lost addiction. I’m currently dealing with the DTs until February.

43. a life uncommon - September 27, 2007

Wolf up there needs to get on it… West Wing is worth being addicted to… I’m still so addicted!!

44. brandy - September 28, 2007

wolfalicious- It doesn’t make you a bad person. However. It does make you a person who needs to sit down and re-think your priorities and what you want out of your life. Because a life without the West Wing, is an incomplete one.

brother #3alicious- Ahh that makes sense. I always forget about Jesus carrying people. I’m glad you are here to remind me. And can I just say, I love that you are down with the hills lingo. It clearly shows your dedication to the show.

MCalicious- I like that you’ve jumped on board with the ‘alicious’.

brookemalicious- I think that should be done. Or maybe, just set up an online gambling site for people who want to invest their money on what those nutty kids do. For example, I lay $20 that Speidi never walks down the aisle. And another $20 that Audrina and Lauren have a catfight when Audrina can’t find her black eyeliner that she loves so much.

Brealicious- I think that could be the plan. I mean, that’s what I say about my other addictions. Like… excessive clothes shopping. Or my expensive hard cover book buying habit.

Princess Extraordinairealicious- That is defintely an idea to look into.

brother#3alicious- See, I think Heidi is a puppet and Spencer is the puppetmaster. She just doesn’t seem smart enough to mastermind the whole Speidi thing. And do I feel weird that I have opinions on this? Not as much as I should.

CableGirlalicious- Lost? Hmm, I remember when I had the Lost addiction. It was sweet and pure and I thought it was never going to end. Then… I didn’t get the numbers bit and Charlie got really annoying and I stopped watching. I’m hoping to jump back on board with it this year.

a life uncommonalicious- I agree whole heartedly. It’s worth it just for all the hot political talk. Swoon!

45. Ally - September 29, 2007

I am hooked on WW too….and now I need to go get the rest of the first and second seasons. I think I’ve been inspired to help with a presidential campaign after this year too:)

p.s. Isn’t Rob Lowe terribly sexy?

47. nicoleantoinette - November 25, 2007

It’s gotten to the point where I flat out lie to people about what I’m doing because my friends have started to judge me about my WW addiction haha. “Laundry” and “laying around my apartment” most often mean “fantasizing about Josh Lyman and watching the ‘the streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight’ speech on repeat.” I have also tried to stop beginning my sentences with things like “This one time on The West Wing…”

Crap, I’m such a loser, haha!
