Threesomes September 11, 2007

Posted by brandy in Jon Stewart, friends, happiness, lists, shoes, the world according to me, wasting time.
trackback

So when the world was new and men were still arguing if the Earth was flat, Joanne tagged me to do this meme.  I have finally completed it. I’m waiting for the parade.

3 things that scare me

  1. Ann Coulter
  2. How easy I can fall in lust, out of love, while running on firm ground…
  3. Spiders

3 people who make me laugh

  1. Jon Stewart (just like you Joanne!)
  2. my brother
  3. my Scrabble addict friend, Kingpin

3 things I love

  1. Moments when you feel like you are doing exactly what you should be
  2. peeling an orange in one long peel.
  3. Christmas carols

3 things I hate

  1. people who think that yelling their argument will suddenly make it valid
  2. white food
  3. the feeling of cotton balls

3 things I don’t understand

  1. quantum physics or grade 12 math
  2. Why I don’t have a job
  3. The appeal of Colin Farrell

3 things on my desk

  1. my resume
  2. this guy (because I actually draw. And that is shocking me fact #32432)
  3. enough pens/pencils/markers/highlighters to ensure I will have a working writing utensil for the next 300 years

3 things I’m doing right now

  1. Thinking I should make risotto for dinner but knowing I’m going to have cereal
  2. Wishing I was wearing socks
  3. Wondering if Pink is going to show up tonight

3 things I want to do before I die

  1. Visit Rhode Island
  2. Find the perfect showerhead
  3. Write something longer than a post

3 things I can do

  1. Juggle, sort of. I’ve spent a better part of my summer teaching myself how. It (like all important things in life) is all about timing.
  2. Ask for what I deserve
  3. Walk in tall girl shoes without the hint of wobble. Okay, maybe there’s a hint. But it depends on the ground. And if there has been drinking involved.

3 things I can’t do

  1. Stop myself from asking ‘what if…’ about the most inappropriate people during the most inappropriate times
  2. Not clap my hands when I’m excited
  3. Iron a shirt without creating some burn marks

3 things I think you should listen to

  1. Yourself when you are happiest.
  2. Jon Stewart
  3. That friend

3 things you should never listen to
    1. Yourself at 3am, when you are in a martini haze and have your exboyfriend’s phone number still on speed dial.
    2. Anyone who has to put someone else down to build themselves up.
    3.  Any story you hear about me, missing beer and a night spent hiding under a horsetrailer

3 shows I watched as a kid
1. The Cosby Show- my favourite episode is the one were Theo gives this huge speech about becoming a man and doing what he wants and Dr. Huxtable puts him in his place with a ‘what the hell are you saying? That’s the stupidiest thing I’ve ever heard”. It still makes me giggle.
2. Full House.- The one where those wiley Tanner kids drive the car through the kitchen and yet Danny still manages not to raise his voice when he finds out truly illustrated the difference between their family and mine.
3. … I have no idea what it was called but it had Jerry O’Connell and he had a ’secret identity’ where he could fly through the air using aerosole cans. Man. That was good stuff. Horrible for the environment, but still, pretty cool.
I’ve decided to forgo the tagging. If you want to do it, do it.

1. Michael C - September 11, 2007

Yes! First!!
I’ll be back with an actual comment…

2. Michael C - September 11, 2007

It is AWESOME that you love Christmas Carols, people who clap when they are happy are the happiest people (crap, that sounds like a Streisand song doesn’t it? Sorry) and I still watch Full House sometimes!

Go with the Risotto for dinner. Then put on some upbeat Sinatra. Happy, happy times.

3. Kelly - September 11, 2007

Ann Coulter should scare everyone. And Colin Farrell? Seriously, why all the lust over a guy who is barely intelligible, chainsmokes, and lets those brows go without any grooming!

4. the patient - September 11, 2007

Well no wonder you don’t understand quantum physics.

5. Joanne - September 11, 2007

Hahaha, I was so unbelievably excited to see your 3’s. And, I forgot about Full House! I watched that, too, as a kid. Yeah…tonight looks like cereal for me, too. =)

Great 3’s…now you oughta tag 5 people or something like that, haha. =P

6. brandy - September 11, 2007

MC- I went with the cereal. Mostly because I was lazy. And was really wanting milk to play a large part of my meal. As for what makes a Streisand song like a Streisand song, I don’t know. I’m not really familiiar with her work. Do you have a favourite song of hers that I should know about?

Kelly- I’m glad that someone agrees with me about Colin. I suspect that there’s a lot of ladies out there who love him, but I just don’t understand it.

the patient- Ah ha! I changed it. My spellcheck is still not working but I’m glad you pointed out my mistake…

Joanne- Sorry it took me so long to finish (twss), but I’m glad I completed it. As for tagging, I’m too lazy (twss- whoa. That one is pretty dirty). Whoever wants to should though!!

7. Michael C - September 11, 2007

No, sorry. I don’t have a fav Streisand song. I like them all when they end and are over though…
:D

Uh, you just completed the ultimate TWSS, btw. I thought they were good before, but this one was amazing (TWSS)

8. Ally - September 11, 2007

LOVE the “Threesomes.” You even have a clever title :)

Ann Coulter–or rather her popularity (I guess the same people who elected Bushy) scares me too, and Jon Stewart always makes me smile, although not so often now that I don’t have cable.

I often keep socks in my purse so that I don’t have to wish I had them on–I just put them on my with black suit while hidden behind a desk.

And I love the feeling of doing/being right where I’m supposed to be….it’s most comforting.

Glad to know that I share some things with you :)

9. Bre - September 11, 2007

when it comes to walking without wobble, it’s all about the terrain!

10. brandy - September 11, 2007

MC- I thought you would appreciate that one. You really need to check out the one on the deleted scenes of season 3 though..

Ally- Socks in the purse. I think I’m going to have to try this. As for Ann, I remember you writing about your dislike for her before, so we will always be able to bond over the mean-spirited girl.

Bre- I couldn’t agree more lady!

11. Michael C - September 11, 2007

Oh I will!! But seriously, how can even Michael Scott top the one you laid down a little earlier?? I mean, that one almost makes me want to concede and leave that as the penultimate TWSS, even though our project has not yet been completed…

12. egan - September 11, 2007

I see PInk is still haunting you. Jon Stewart is a really funny man, I need to start watching that again in order to laugh more often.

Is it Colin Farrel’s accent that drives most wild about him? What’s in Rhode Island? Family?

13. Semichrmd - September 12, 2007

Oh my goodness miss brandy - not only do we share the same name (Brandi but with an I) but we both share a fear of cottonballs! I hate them. The touch, feel - they are completely skeevy. We must have suffered some cotton ball trauma in our younger years or something.
As for Colin Farrel - it’s TOTALLY the irsh accent. Because let’s face it, I think he could use a shower - but we he opens his mouth, it’s not hard to see past that.

14. pam - September 12, 2007

I think that Jerry O’Connell show was Sliders(?).

15. Princess of the Universe - September 12, 2007

The Jerry O’Connell show was “My Secret Identity”, he was so cute back then.

16. Ruby - September 12, 2007

You can peel an orange all in one? Impressive! I don’t like cotton balls either, they’re so odd.

17. Brillig - September 12, 2007

Hahaha. Love the list, Brandy. I too would like to write something longer than a post before I die… sigh. So, yeah. Good luck with that. :-)

18. justrun - September 12, 2007

” Any story you hear about me, missing beer and a night spent hiding under a horsetrailer.”

If I didn’t know better, I’d think we’d already met. I swore no one else would ever have a story like that.

19. Lefty - September 12, 2007

Spiders scare my daughter, too. I said the word “spider” in conversation and she yanked her head around in terror.

Don’t you mean “when men and women were still arguing if the Earth was flat”?

BUT WHEN I TALK THIS LOUDLY IT CONVINCES EVERYONE ELSE THAT I AM INDEED RIGHT!

Jon Stewart is practically a god. Or at least a demi-god.

20. silverneurotic - September 12, 2007

I need to learn to walk in heels. I’m coming to Canada to take lessons from you…I mean, you are a teacher and all.

21. toshspice - September 12, 2007

Does the drawing dummy actually work? Do they have a female one? Or is it one size fits all?

22. Kathryn - September 12, 2007

while pretty, there really is not much to Rhode Island — what’s the allure??

so with you on the Colin Farrell thing, DIRTY!

as for the wobble-less walk in tall girl shoes, practice, practice and practice some more (and only buy really expensive, well-built shoes, seriously it makes all the difference!!)

23. Michelle - September 12, 2007

PINK is the funniest post! Has she started running yet??

Mmmm, I love cereal for dinner :)

24. Still searching - September 12, 2007

2 things I just have to say:

a) I’m stay in Rhode Island nowadays :)
b) That was TV, that episode where Danny’s cool as a cucumber… your family (or mine) is real… its not so smooth then!

25. brookem - September 12, 2007

i remember you mentioning ri before! what’s the intrigue? providence? newport?? i went last weekend. i spent a hell of a lot of time there in recent years as that ex was from there. i can give you a tour, name the time and place! oh, and i cant not do the what if thing either. clearly.

26. brandy - September 12, 2007

MC- Yeah, I have to say that was pretty great. I mean, I was even a bit shocked with it…

egan- No family. I just always said I wanted to go and know that I have to go before I die. It’s just that simple. As for needing more Jon in your life for the laughs, are you not getting much at work? Perhaps you need to start pulling some office pranks?

Semichrmd- Cotton balls are skeevy! I think ’skeevy’ might just be the word of the day. They just give me the shivers!

pam- Sliders sounds familiar too…. geez. How many shows was that Jerry on??

POTU- Ahhhh! You are right (I just googled it to triple check). I love that I’m not alone in remembering that show. And I think he’s pretty cute now!

Ruby- Well, I can peel an orange in one peel if it’s a mandarian orange, but I suspect everyone can do that. My real goal is to peel a kiwi in one peel. THAT would be a feat.

Brillig- Well, when you do write something longer than a post, let me know and I will run to the store and buy it.

justrun- Ahh, it warms my heart that someone else has spent a night in hiding over beer.

Lefty- No, I mean men. History doesn’t really talk a lot about chicks arguing over the state of the Earth. I suspect they were all being burned alive for being witches, or trying to care for their 896 that all have the plague. Okay, I just combined 100’s of years with that comment, but whatever.

silverneurotic- Sounds like you should come to Canada and take lessons from Kathryn not me!

toshspice- I like the dummy. I mean, it’s a unisex dummy without a lot of features, but it’s great to help visualize where joints should be and how long limbs are.

Kathryn- I’m glad you are with me on the Colin. As for the shoes, I’ve heard that good shoes make all the difference. I may just have to spring for a pair that costs more than my truck and see what happens.

Michelle- I hate to say it, but I haven’t seen Pink running. I hardly ever see her at the track though. Although, I did see her getting her mail a few days ago wearing her velour.

Still Searching- You are in Rhode Island now?! Color me jealous.

brookem- I just always said I wanted to go to Rhode Island, I don’t know what else to say. I wish I had a better reason… as for the tour, I would love it! Since you know, I will know one there when I go…

27. Miss Kate - September 12, 2007

Ann Coulter scares the ever livin’ bejeezies out of me. I was just reading about her last week - wowzers. “That chick is whack.”

How has no one asked about the horse trailer story? Was it fresh full of manure or all swept out? (This could make a critical difference in the tone of your story!)

28. B - September 12, 2007

I started doing that claping when excited thing latley never did before but all of a sudden it’s my new thing :)

29. Rosanna - September 13, 2007

peeling an orange in one long peel - I am so jealous! I have never been able to do that…

30. Angry - September 13, 2007

Sorry, but you’ve been tagged by Angry of http://www.angrybuttons.com

31. Egg - September 13, 2007

Cool list! Ann Coulter scares a lot of people. Sometimes I wonder if she’ll ever turn over a new leaf…Wishful thinking?

32. Evans - September 13, 2007

You neglect my favorite threesome…Jack, Janet and Chrissy

33. brandy - September 13, 2007

Miss Kate- Yeah… Anne… oh man. It’s not the fact that I disagree with a lot of what she says that makes me scared of her, it’s just the way she articulates her view point that scares me, without any regard for sensitivity, or you know, common decency a lot of the time.

B- Yes, clapping when excited is a great, great thing!

Rosanna- It DOES give me a great feeling. Perhaps I should throw it on my resume?

Angry- I will need to investigate this…

Egg- Yes, indeed, wishful thinking I think. But we can dream, right??

Evans- Oh, man! I miss them. Jack especially, his outfits were fantastic and I loved Chrissy’s hair all the time.

34. tori - September 13, 2007

There is some amazing stuff in this entire post, but what I NEED to comment on is the fact that you know that show. My Secret Identity was one of my favorite shows when I was younger, and no one ever knows what I am talking about when I mention it. I love you for knowing it!

35. the patient - September 13, 2007

my pleasure. i always like correcting other people’s mistakes. if only i had a job that gave me lots of money to do that. feel free to return the favor, if you ever come back to read my blog.

36. sue - September 13, 2007

You’ve done a lot! I am enjoying the blog… I found you through my daughter’s site, but now see we have several people in common on your blogroll. I’d like to link to you and continue reading, if that’s okay?

What if twins…. yay!
My nickname as a kid was “what if” for very similar reasons!

39. brandy - September 16, 2007

Tori- I LOVE that you know the show too!!!! That just made my day!

the patient- I’m slowly coming back to blog reading. It may take some time. My google reader is frightening. But I’m working on it. I promise.

Sue- Of course!! I can’t wait to check out your site and add you to my google reader

PRincess Pointful- Ahh ‘what if’ twins! What a great term.
