Part II of the genius stolen from Brookem
I Love…
myself (don’t hate me because it was the first thing that came to my mind,- I was raised this way), my family (because if I said ’shoes’ next that would look reeeally bad), seeing potential, the smell of suntan lotion, books that make me cry (HP fits in here!), people who make me think, *a man with a plan, this poem, Friday nights when I’m sleeping by 10pm, hot showers on cold mornings, the face a child makes when they finally understand refraction, my friends, this painting, rootbeer in glass bottles, the feel of clean sheets, dirty jokes, songs that feel like they were written about my life, Fridays, the mysterious allure of Kevin Costner, shoes!, when I get what it’s all about, people who are witty to the point of genius (ie. Jon Stewart).
I Ache…
(sadly) after an hour of really intense gym class with 37 children who have deemed me the human jungle gym.
I Always…
wake up before my alarm clock goes off, say “thank you”, blush when people make a big deal out of hearing me swear, try to give exact change, cry at weddings, ask for a blanket on a plane, think more is better, giggle when someone says ‘balls’ (because apparently I’m 9 years old), talk with my hands, leave a good tip, stop talking when I’m mad, complain about celebrity fascination but then catch myself wondering if Jennifer & Vince are ever going to get back together.
I Usually…
write too much when answering these.
I Am Not…
likely to ever stop loving the sweet K.C, really competive (unless it’s Scrabble and then I want to destroy you and all your loved ones everyone to try their best and have fun), able to lie well, faster than a speeding bullet, likely to ever beat you on a math test, eager for Friday, good at bartering, currently in love (sigh), a fan of most gluten free products.
I Dance…
often, anywhere, with my eyes closed, until I’m sweaty, as I master my air guitar, while planning my wedding to Justin Timberlake, with a passion rivalled only by those competing on “Dancing with the Stars”.
* a man with a plan refers to a well-adjusted man who doesn’t need a 5 drink minimum/an entourage/lifts in his shoes/a blackberry to feel confident enough to come over and say hi.
Sidenote: Go read this. I loved, loved, loved it and made me think. (Which, is always something I strive for, thinking that is. And loving things. Thinking and loving. Those are good things. Can you tell I’m tired from being up and it’s only 6:30 am?) Also, go WATCH this because it made me laugh. And if I can laugh on a few hours of sleep (remember, I need about 10 hours usually to be my happy and well- adjusted self, I’m sure it will make you smile too!)
I love this post and yesterdays…..you should love yourself more than anything else in the world so you go gilr!
Do you even talk with your hands while talking on the phone? I do and apparently this makes people laugh.
I always write too much on these types of things, too. Brevity is very, very hard for me.
Princess Extraordinaire- That’s sort of how I think too, man. My mom would be so proud that years of talking about confidence would pay off in a single post.
Amanda- Oh totally! And I will even say things like this on the phone “okay it was about this wide” (while holding my hands out to show), because clearly I think people can see me all th time. And I’m glad I’m not the only one that suffers with writing too much- look, I even write too much in the comment section. Thank the big G I’m a quick typer or else I would be having to dedicate my life to wordpress.
brandlylu, i remember reading a comment from you when i did this a while ago, about how you loved the smell of sunscreen. and i love that about you. oh, i love that you said a man with a plan too, so very true. that’s such an interesting poem! thank you for sharing that. oh, and im in the midst of replying to your email, and there is kevin costner info in it as i saw him in his glory last night in mr. brooks. s-w-o-o-n worthy.
Ah yeah! The air guitar!
I also always wake up before my alarm clock goes off. Sometimes it’s only one minute before. But I really wanted that extra minute. I hate my alarm clock. It’s always sitting on the side of the bed just staring at me and taunting me to go back to sleep.
Love it! This week has been so long that all week I have been thinking that if I can just make it to Friday, I will treat myself by going to bed at 9pm. In my clean sheets. And it will be fantastic.
I wonder that too - I just feel like they totally should get back together. It would make me happy in a bizarre way.
For some reason the things you love made me think of Fall which is my favorite season!
brookem- KC talk? Man! Today is going to be a great day. I totally want to check that movie out too!
justrun- I love a good air guitar, and have been known to pull it out at the grocery store. God bless AC/DC.
Michael C- Ohh I feel the same way. My alarm clock is soo smug, and because I refuse to press snooze EVER, I always just get up. Sigh. (and yes, the sigh was put in to try and evoke sympathy, is it working? And hey, how is my song coming along?!)
Beth- I think we are officially old when a Friday night ‘treat’ is bed by 9.
Remember when going to bed early was the punishment?
Anne- Yeah, they just seem like a good fit. And yes, I love how I say that when I DON’T EVEN KNOW THEM.
Sally- I love fall too! I find that I enjoy fall shopping more than summer shopping, but summer has flip flops and they will always hold a special place in my heart.
Hey, this is such a great post idea. Brookem is a gift to the blogworld and you’re not too shabby either. The answer you gave to “balls” is the best one and offers a nice peek into your mind. I love it. Now, about loving yourself.. I don’t honestly think people love themselves often enough, but that’s just me talking out of my ass. Thanks for the linky love.
Hi, I am dripping with sympathy for you, just oozing it. So much so in fact that is has hampered my ability to write an upbeat song for you. Don’t worry, I’ll come through.
Oh yeah, if you read my post from yesterday, you will understand why I am sighing. I only write this to evoke unabashed mutual sympathy. How’s that working?? When you get the chance, send me an email. I’ve got a picture from The Office I think you might enjoy…unless you’ve already seen it. Plus, I won’t keep having to send you ‘The Brandy Song’ in comments for all the world to see and judge
Great post, I love the happiness in it!
Also, thanks for the link. I am not usually terribly serious on my blog, so I like it when the serious moments come across well!
ill get that kc email out stat. egan i love how you just said linkey love! oh and i could go on for days on jen and vince. (and i say “jen”, because we’re on a nickname basis, as if we’re bffs)
Hewlett Packard manuals make you cry?
egan- I love that out of my entire post you will remember the fact I giggle when I hear balls. But hey, it’s so true so I’m not going to stress about it. I hope you do another video sometime, that was fantastic.
Michael C- Well, you can tell that teaching small children is going really well when I have all this time to comment on my own blog. These kids could run governments without help I tell you! And I will defintely email you today, I’ve got to see this picture!
Yummy Sushi Pajamas- I know EXACTLY what you mean when it comes to being serious and hoping it gets a good response! But I really did enjoy your post and felt the need to share it. Have a great day!
brookem- So you and Jen are sorta like me and Jules (Julianne Moore). Nice to know that we are friends with the famous.
Lefty- Sometimes. As do Harry Potter novels. You know, the boy wizard you think you can replace? Geez Lefty, keep up!
Brandy, there’s so much to choose from on this post. I had to pick a few of them because if I didn’t… I might end up with the longest comment ever on this blog. I have to pace myself as they say. The feedback on this first post has been optimistic so I can see doing them again in the future. Thanks for all the compliments, move over Peter Mansbridge!
Ha ha… I am enjoying these nutshell stuff… Just that, it is not really in a nutshell, is it?
Seeing potential, thinking and thinking people, clean sheets and Fridays… Gimme those!
The man with the plan also sounds interesting… Very few of them exist, if they ever do… And if they exist, they are already taken! Darn!
You swear? Really! Oh thank goodness.
Suntan lotion is a great smell!
oh i heart jules! isn’t she gorgeous? ok, sending kc email now, for reals.
ps- there is a nude scene in the movie. just sayin.
You can tell how busy I am while at work as I keep commenting on your blog. When i get your email address and get home I’ll send you the pic. Now I fear I’ve gotten your hopes up about it, but I think it’s pretty cool. Of course if you are disappointed, don’t tell me…
Oh yeah, how do you feel about the word ‘bandy’ and ‘landy?’
egan- I saw a girl a few weeks ago wearing a shirt that said “I heart Mansbridge”. I almost passed out of sheer glee. (And I’m starting to wonder, what DON’T you know about Canada?)
Bungi- Sigh, Bungi… I like to think there are still a few out there. Lurking in the shadows, waiting for the girl with a plan to find them.
Jennifer- Like a sailor!
brookem- Ohhhh I can’t wait to read it. Nude scene? My heart is racing!
Michael C- bandy and landy? Dear goodness MC, try again! (And yes, your new nickname here is MC, cool?) Oh and my hopes are soooo high up that if this doesn’t change my life I will be severely disappointed to the point I may become a mute. I’m just saying.
You might become a mute but you are just saying? That’s a genius line and uh, forget I said anything about a photo. What photo??
OK, I’ll scrap bandy and landy…
I want that shirt really bad, maybe I can make a similar one. Mansbridge is like your Tom Brokaw. I love his accent. Perhaps there’s another quiz in the making? Nah.
this is great! though kevin costner? i’m not convinced.
i love WH Auden poems.
funny, a couple of years ago i referenced ubuntu in my blog (http://sizzlesays.wordpress.com/2005/10/09/ubuntu/). definitely something to make us think. i agree!
I LOVE to dance! I’ll dance anywhere. It is even more amazing when you have a good dancing partner
I used to have the big time hots for Kevin Costner too. I’m not sure when my love for him died exactly.
Can we still be friends?
Hmmm…I’m a really bad liar too. But I am an excellent secret keeper. So I have that going for me.
Airam, your love for Costner died when that young looking Criss Angel arrived on the scene.
MC- I’m emailing you. Right now. Last night there was a wee distraction with a flooded basement. Again.
egan-I think I want one that says “Mansbridge is the man”. Okay, I’ve decided I’m going to make one because that would be fantastic. Wow, look at us, talking about making our own clothes. Martha Stewart would be proud.
sizzle- KC has stolen my heart and I make no apologizes! The man is a fox! And I’m defintely going to check out your site for that post.
appletini- I agree dancing rocks but I find that sometimes, a partner cramps my style. Wow. No wonder I’m single.
Airam- I’ve slept on it and I’ve come back with a “yes”. We can defintely still be friends, because a) I think you are funny b) you leave comments that make me laugh and c) you are Canadian. A Canadian teacher nonetheless. We need to stick together and not let a little lost KC love divide us.
Cheryl- Ohh I wish I was a good secret keeper. Sadly, I’m not. I’m working on it though…
egan- I love that you know the inside scoop on everyone.
Yeah, after seeing it in print, MC works really well!
I try.
I have to follow some of your habits. They’re definitely worth trying..Your Costner infatuation reminds me of an old obsession with William Baldwin. Have a nice weekend
I found the “I Dance” section particularly humorous because I’m dating one of those “those kind of persons” right now.
