Prince Harry, trampoline parties and ICE CREAM! June 10, 2007

Oh loyal readers, I’m tired. But it’s a good tired- the kind small children feel after their birthday parties, my mom feels after a good shoe shopping expedition or how I imagine marathon runners feel after completing a long race. Why am I so happily exhausted?

Because I just had the greatest weekend ever.

I met up with old friends, sipped a cocktail called ‘chick drink’ that had a slogan “strong enough for a man but made for a woman” that was delicious and pineapple-y and full of promises kept and happy endings. We wore tall shoes and laughed until we cried. We discussed weddings and war, family and facebook. (And let me be frank here and say, there was A LOT of facebook talk. It’s invading normal conversation now, is anyone else noticing that?!)

We teetered sauntered over to the local watering hole that Prince Harry (the little minx!) visited the night before and we drank concotions that tasted like apple pie. We danced, danced, danced with our eyes closed and arms in the air, surrounded by a few interesting gentleman who thought that they had hit the jackpot when witnessing our one-fisted-pump-in-the-air dance move. We ate hotdogs (okay, my friends had hotdogs, I didn’t. Something tells me street vendor hotdogs are not gluten free), got invited to a trampoline party and then jumped on a trampoline for a few hours laughing until we hurt. (I can’t remember the last time I was on a trampoline. I seriously think I need to invest!) In the cab home, our driver was nice enough to turn up the Carrie Underwood and did his best not to flinch as four girls poured out their hearts into the lyrics at a decibal so loud my ears are still ringing.

Today we went shopping and picked up a book I had been wanting to read and then on a whim, went on a roadtrip to Bragg Creek with one of my best girls and soaked up the sun while eating the biggest cup of cotton candy ICE CREAM! (Because ICE CREAM! always needs to be capitalized. It’s just how I roll.) And did I mention, it was the best ICE CREAM! I ever had? Ever?

Sigh.

I’m pretty sure the only thing that could have made today better was if Ryan Gosling sang to me on his guitar, gave me a new puppy and the sky was filled with cotton candy clouds. But even then, I’m not sure it would make me any happier, because I’m not sure that’s possible.

That’s how good my weekend was. Hope you all had a great one too!
